What will you do?

Product Marketing Manager (PMM)-Xray-Micro CT is responsible for all strategic and tactical activities that define and manage a product in a market. The PMM is aimed at strengthening and growing THERMOFISHER SCIENTIFIC’s presence in a market globally by developing, driving and implementing the product strategy required to meet the company’s market share and gross margin objectives for current and future products.


Product and business development – Assess needs of customers and markets, develop business plans to create solutions that will gain market segment share. Define requirements for new products (hardware and software). Work hand in hand with engineers throughout the development phase to track progress and balance the plan and primary requirements. Monitor business performance (bookings, revenue, margin, market position) to identify issues and drive improvement actions.
  • Collect Voice of the Customer (VoC) and Market Trends - Identify, document and communicate customer challenges, wants, needs, priorities and values to create relevant product strategies. Identify, document and communicate to Sales and R&D why customers buy and how they use FEI products to support product development plans and sales strategy. Provide feedback on new features needed in the market to ensure competitive solutions.
  • Strategic Planning – Develop a value based marketing strategy for new products and implement Marketing Plans in the context of FEI’s Product Management Process (PMP). Track product revenue and margins and ensure product plans execute on specific financial objectives.
  • Innovation/New Product Introduction–Create and execute new product introduction plans to deliver a solutions roadmap to the market segment based on strategic product planning. Create the value propositions for innovations and new product introductions and validate them with key customers. Create sales collateral and deliver product value and positioning training for the sales team.
  • Market Management – Identify, document and communicate market segment trends and disruptions to all parts of the organization. Develop product development and positioning strategies that anticipate and adapt to changes in the market segment.
  • Marketing (Launch) Plan Execution – Complete regular reviews of objectives versus plan to deliver quarterly and long term business objectives. Review key metrics to ensure achievement of the marketing plan including on-time product launches.
  • Sales Support – Support new product sales promotions in the field with direct customer interaction including commercial and technical presentations and collateral. Maintain relationships with key customers and work to develop them with sales into reference customers to help with product strategy formation and validation globally.
  • Manage relationships with cross-functional teams, working closely with R&D, Service and Sales team to ensure that the company develops the appropriate solutions and services; delivering exceptional customer value while achieving the financial objectives of the products managed.
How will you get there?

  • University degree in a relevant scientific field and/or University degree in Business Administration.

Experience: The PMM position is ideal for a candidate who has made a successful transition to business management, introducing (new) products and solutions to the market. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who thrives in a dynamic team, can drive product and market development and enjoys being exposed to a constant variety of complex issues that need to be resolved.

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education, experience and skills:
  • >5 years of experience in marketing, product or applications development or management in Xray-Micro CT required
  • Experience in interacting with highly technical customers and customer groups.
  • Proven experience in developing business cases, and the organization of new product launches based on customer needs.
  • The ability to create a vision for a product and translate it into strategy and a value-driven roadmap.
  • The ability to envisage new opportunities and to drive their implementation to achieve continuous business improvement.
  • Excellent communication ability (both written and verbal) and influencing skills. The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences is critical to success in this position.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong drive for results, ability to manage objectives without significant direction and an ability to work within a diverse, cross-functional team across multiple sites.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally.
