**Job Background/Context:**


The Lending and CCR business of the Citi Private Bank offers a diverse product range including Margin Securities Backed Finance (MSBF), Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Residential Real Estate finance (RRE), Aircraft, Subscription Credit Facilities (SCF), Art-backed Finance as well as tailored solutions to target market clients of the Private Bank.


Wealth Credit Management (WCM) is a critical component of the First Line of Defense for credit risk management and works with Independent Risk partners to ensure best-in-class risk and controls, as well as client responsiveness. Key responsibilities of the group include credit analysis, documentation, risk identification, exposure monitoring and associated administration associated with Citi Global Wealth lending activities. WCM coordinates with the Institutional Credit Management function in ICG to ensure full alignment on business and regulatory goals as they relate to wholesale lending, as well as consistency and best practices where appropriate.


Within WCM, the Underwriting Governance Team Lead will be responsible for leading a team focused on the strategic oversight of the global credit underwriting processes across the regions where WCM operates. This includes (i) establishing consistent governance framework, relevant procedures, operating manuals, credit templates and best in class processes that will allow to drive excellence and consistency across the WCM underwriting teams and meet all regulatory and internal policy requirements; (ii) establishing standard measures and key indicators to monitor the quality and capacity of the wealth management credit underwriting processes quantifying adequate staffing levels and driving accountability; (iv) develops training strategy and execution plans to maximize credit officer effectiveness by focusing on underwriter and manager development, and the necessary measurement and comprehensive actions to sustain high performance of the credit officers and senior credit officers, (v) support transformation of relevant processes and technology in coordination with other relevant businesses across the wholesale credit underwriting space to drive process excellence while also improving credit underwriting delivery times,


**Key Responsibilities:**


+ Lead and execute strategy that will result in the formation of the Credit Underwriting Governance team under the WCM Portfolio Strategy group.

+ Lead and manage the review, consolidation and timely maintenance of processes, standards, procedures, credit templates, applicable training related to the WCM credit underwriting along the different regions, products and offerings within WCM.

+ Establish core metrics for underwriting process to quantify efficiency and have a CA allocation model to measure performance and delivery by the underwriting teams. Lead the design and implementation of any related required technology project from a user standpoint.

+ Represent WCM on relevant workstreams and initiatives related to underwriting related processes including periodic staffing assessment, policies and governance, training, credit officer identification and management.

+ Coordinate activities regulatory or internal (Risk, IA, FCR) requests related to credit underwriting processes to provide timely and consistent global responses.

+ Institute and ensure effectiveness of governance and processes that meet internal policies and regulatory requirements/expectations.

+ Collaborate with WCM portfolio managers and Human Resources to define a program to develop, attract, and retain talent and maintain staffing levels necessary to carry our WCM role and responsibilities.

+ Establish a quantitative and qualitative global framework to measure, monitor and identify the number of staff and seniority levels needed to ensure an effective first line of defense within WCM through staffing assessment..


**Skills/Competencies:**


+ Experience leading a team in a management capacity related to wholesale credit underwriting and portfolio management at large financial institution, experience in a global wealth management setup is a plus.

+ Strong knowledge of wholesale lending (wealth management oriented) products and business, including an understanding of credit underwriting and approval processes.

+ Demonstrated skills in building, developing high performance teams.

+ Significant understanding of process redesign / re-engineering and implementation of complex initiatives.

+ Ability to deliver results and work effectively within a setup with complex processes, systems and fast turnaround requirements.

+ Extensive practice in managing large remediation efforts and meeting critical deadlines on time.

+ Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and senior management both within the lines of business and across multiple stakeholders

+ Highly developed analytical and decision-making capabilities including the ability to identify, escalate, and propose and execute solutions to complex problems

+ Ability to multi-task through the practice of strong organizational and time management skills with experience in continuously following-up with various stakeholders and execution team

+ Extensive involvement working in a steering capacity with Business constituents, Risk, Technology and Operations on process improvement

+ Comprehensive understanding and awareness of appropriate corporate and regulatory policies in relation to Lending

+ Track record of establishing key operating standards and KPIs/metrics with the achievement of leading team to meeting / exceeding these standards

+ Strong influencing skills and ability to work in a global environment where priorities are frequently changing

**Qualifications:**


+ Undergraduate degree and relevant experience in a similar role.

+ At least 7+ years in a relevant role aligned to the Transaction Management competencies.

+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

+ Management experience with the ability to lead change and lead multi-functional teams.

+ Keen attention to detail

+ Excellent oral and written communication capability

+ Ability to take initiative and self-motivate

+ Ability to work under pressure and deliver with the highest standards within tight timetables.

+ Experience working in a global team environment within a multi-jurisdiction setup.

+ Developed process management, people management, analytical and problem-solving abilities
