Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Water Resources Project Manager for full-time employment in the Charleston, SC office. The project manager will work in the AECOM Water Business unit on various stormwater projects. AECOM is searching for enthusiastic candidates that are client focused, impactful, decisive and have the ability to serve as a role model. The successful candidate will provide design support, client coordination and networking, business development insight, and work closely with other senior project managers. The position will involve working on projects for the state, local municipalities, federal agencies, and private clients. The successful candidate will have a strong area of expertise in water resources and able to support and provide oversight and leadership for project engineers.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Technical lead for multi-disciplinary teams to undertake stormwater projects

  • Direct and manage the implementation of the project including coordination with project stakeholders, consultants, contractors and other external and internal parties to achieve project milestones

  • Prepare technical memoranda, planning studies and final design calculations, plans and specifications

  • Manage project deliverable, budgets, schedules. Ensure compliance with the companys Quality Assurance policies and procedures

  • Oversee and manage construction phases of projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and budget

  • Ensure project work is undertaken in accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems

  • Prepare proposals and qualification documents in the interest of obtaining new assignments

  • Maintain client relationships; assist in identification and pursuit of business development opportunities

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

  • 8+ years of experience relevant to municipal or private sector water resources/stormwater

  • Must possess a valid drivers license

  • Professional Engineer in South Carolina or ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months of hire

  • Proven Project Management experience or ability to obtain certified Project Manager certification within six (6) month of hire

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver on time and within budget

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of local codes, development processes, and utility regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to work with clients to provide long-term solutions and maintain/develop strong client relationships

  • Provide leadership and technical guidance in his/her area of expertise related to water resources/stormwater

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good understanding of local and regional markets and able to support marketing effort in pursuing work

  • Experience or interest in business operations and internal finance

  • Good understanding of client account management, relationship development, brand elevation, project pursuit execution and engineering/technical sales.

  • Experience in the full spectrum of client service including positioning activities, proposal development and delivery of project designs.
