National Grid is hiring a Director, Technical Accounting for our Controllership in Waltham, Massachusetts. Job Purpose
The Director, Technical Accounting provides accounting insight and support in respect of the company’s transactional activities; and owns the accounting, processes and governance associated with key existing technical areas, such as environmental and pension activities. Key Accountabilities
US accounting lead on special projects and transactions, including (as relevant): i) mergers/acquisitions; ii) divestitures; and iii) legal entity restructurings – in all instances, both US GAAP and IFRS views will be required Manage relationships with and oversee work performed by outside advisors in respect of due diligence, purchase accounting and other necessary deliverables in respect of special projects and transactions Interface with and advise US tax team in respect of tax interplay and structuring associated with special projects and transactions Accounting and reporting related to environmental and pension areas under both IFRS and US GAAP Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships that are critical to environmental and pension areas Oversight of internal controls and processes associated with environmental and pension accounting Primary liaision for Group Financial Control at Parent and external auditors in respect of areas under remit Work with other leaders and peers within the US controllership to drive an inclusive and collaborative team environment Develop and manage a highly motivated, capable and adequately resourced team, driving a performance management culture that delivers value through employee engagement Qualifications
Transaction accounting and structuring Accounting and financial strategy development Risk mitigation Translating accounting conclusions to business outcomes Utility accounting and finance experience Month-end processes Process and financial control implementation and monitoring Financial systems US GAAP, SOX and IFRS Effective business partnerships Bachelor’s degree required and MBA preferred in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA or equivalent international accounting license required plus 10 years of progressive accounting or technical accounting experience More Information
