Samsung Austin Semiconductor (SAS) is searching for a professional Unix/Linux administrator to support 24/7 Foundry FABs UNIX and Linux systems. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend and front-end support for end-users.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Install UNIX/LINUX systems administration on production and/or development servers.
  • Ability to work with customers to review projects in their area of expertise.
  • Good experience in multiple scripting languages for systems administration.
  • Monitor systems performance through the use of various scripts and monitoring applications.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with networking, storage, software development, and project management teams.
  • Provides support to customers running Linux on their application and database servers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with peers, vendors, customers and management.
  • Work on a team to see projects to completion.
  • Participate in rotating on-call 24/7 schedule to support critical systems.
  • Work days and hours: 1st-shift. M-F 8am to 5pm.
  • Hybrid position with on-site requirements and work from home rotation.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in IT as UNIX/Linux Server Administrator.
  • Working experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments and preferably Solaris or HPUX OS.
  • Ability to adjust to fast-paced 24x7 environment.
  • Provides support to customers running Linux on their application and database servers.
  • Hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux server standards.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
  • Familiarity with server design, documentation, change management process.
  • Familiarity with shell scripting.
  • Ability to work and communicate clearly (verbal and written) with peers, customers and vendors.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communications skills.
