The Trauma Coordinator serves as a program coordinator and consultant to staff a multi-disciplinary health care team. The Trauma Coordinator (TC) is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a cost-effective system of care for trauma patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. The TC works both independently and in collaboration with the trauma program medical directors (Emergency MD and General Surgery MD) and other members of the health care team and the management staff. The TC is self-directed and self-motivating, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress of work to the director of nursing.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
TNCC preferred

Qualification/Skills

  • 3+ years patient care experience in acute care setting involving care of trauma patients
  • Demonstrated competence in clinical practice
  • Knowledge of adult learning principle’s
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Caring behaviors of listening, respect, compassion and accepting individuality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Data analysis and performance improvement experience
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities of collaboration, conflict resolution, systems thinking, critical thinking and coaching/mentoring

Work Schedule

32 Hours Per Week (0.8 FTE)

Hours variable based on the needs of the program

***The majority of hours are during the day on weekdays, but the needs of the program require early meetings and potential weekend shifts
