United Hospital, located in downtown St. Paul, Minn., is the largest hospital in the Twin Cities east metro area, providing innovative services and programs, such as the Nasseff Heart Center, United Heart; Vascular Clinic and Vascular Center; neuroscience care through the John Nasseff Neuroscience Institute for the treatment of brain aneurisms, Bentson Family Foundation Neurological Intensive Care Unit, Brain Tumor Center and the Nasseff Neuroscience Center; as well as psychiatry, womens health, surgical, rehabilitation and emergency services. Responsibilities

  • Transport patients and related equipment
  • Accompany ambulatory patients to and from destinations
  • Transfer and/or assist nursing personnel with patient transfers using appropriate equipment
  • Provide daily checks of code carts, AEDs, defibrillators, respiratory and emergency boxes to meet Joint Commission standards
  • Accepting and modifiying runs via Navicare system and Navicare IVR system
  • Monitor equipment needing repair, cleaning or relocation
  • Deliver wheelchairs/parts as needed
  • Complete necessary paperwork
  • Provide training for new staff members on transfer/transport responsibilities, department/hospital policies and procedures, safety and other related functions

Education

  • Preferred high school diploma or equivalent

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Prefer hospital experience, will provide on the job training

Skills

  • Good customer service, communication skills, and computer skills
  • Able to walk continuously, turn, twist, bend, lift and position patients with no restrictions
  • Function in a variety of settings
  • Remain calm when dealing with physicians, co-workers, support departments and care units when conflict occurs
  • Ability to verbally communicate read and write the English language

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current Basic Life Support/CPR required

Work Schedule

  • 28 hrs every week.
  • Benefit eligible
  • SEIU union
  • Work every other weekend (4hr shift)
