  • This position is for an Electronics Technician in the Electrical Purchased Products Engineering Department
  • This position applies technical expertise and experience to perform operational duties in support of electrical engineers who develop solutions to problems or challenges with piece part qualification testing
    • Provides leadership, guidance and technical direction in development, qualification and steady-state production efforts of various purchased piece parts at the Kansas City National Security Campus and select vendors
    • Collaborate with component, product, and quality engineers and other specialists in performance and design of testing piece parts as well as piece part testing
    • Gathers data, supports engineers with test anomalies as a result of component and piece part testing
    • Support engineers with validation of new test methods, provides technical direction and training to other technicians, and provides logistics and training support to customers
    • Able to read drawings and follow work instructions
    • Provides limited support to site engineering locations
    • Troubleshooting and debug of hardware, test circuits and coupons
    • Interface with high level customers when necessary
    • Supports and assists in the preparation of product or project definitions, manufacturing drawings and specifications, and test equipment designs
    • Identifies and executes continuous improvement opportunities and defect preventions throughout the life cycle of the product
    • Uses business knowledge to evaluate and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors
    • Willingness to travel up to 25%
    • Provides internal and external support between engineering departments

      You Must Have:

      • U.S citizenship required in order to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy \"\"Q\"\" level security clearance
      • Four-year technical degree OR Four (4) or more years of combined formal/military training and practical experience, to include at least two years€™ training/experience in a laboratory/test environment or instrumentation. 
      • Two (2) or more years€™ relevant experience in a role related to metals characterization or metals processing, metals additive manufacturing, R&D, or production support. 

        We Value:

        • Ability to work independently and provide project and field installation support
        • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
        • Equipment operation, electrical, electronics and radio communications training
        • Working knowledge of electrical circuits; shielding and grounding, RF and multi-conductor cables
        • Experience using electronic diagnosis and repair tools such as voltmeter, oscilloscope, ESD control equipment and soldering tools
        • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic assemblies, including motion control, embedded firmware controllers, optical assemblies, and low voltage power systems
        • IPC 610 Certifications, IPC 620 Certifications J Standard Solder Certification
        • Experience working in laboratory or field environments
        • Proficiency with laboratory electronic test and data acquisition equipment
        • Validated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people at all levels coupled with a customer oriented attitude
        • Knowledge and results of continuous improvement methodologies including Six Sigma 
        • Proven ability in decision making and organization, planning and problem solving skills 
        • Ability to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making
        • Good people skills; ability to work in and motivate teams to produce on-target and timely results
        • Ability to plan and organize, demonstrate excellent time management and support several projects at once
