Technology Business Analyst for CPB Capital Markets

The role will be part of the Citi Private Bank (CPB) Capital Markets Technology's EMEA team. The holder will be responsible for representing CMT to business and Operations users and stakeholders in the region as well as to other technology teams. The function of the role is to understand, document and communicate functional and non-functional business requirements, and to support the offshore development and testing teams in delivering the resulting changes. This could be via formal development projects or via periodic "run-the-bank" releases. A significant proportion of the workslate will be taken up by regulatory initiatives, e.g. EMIR reporting, MiFID II transaction reporting and other regulators in the OTC derivatives product domain. The successful candidate will also be expected to face off to multiple stakeholders in Operations as well as in the control functions, e.g. Risk Management, Compliance, Financial Control, and must be able to grasp complex business issues and articulate them clearly to Technology seniors and other stakeholders.

Applicants will be expected to be good communicators and proficient in technical business analysis skills such as use case analysis, data modelling and structured requirements definition. They should be comfortable with writing fairly complex SQL statements for assessing the impact of changes to the database and problem-solving. A background in development and experience of agile and iterative methodologies are essential. First-hand experience of projects involving Capital Markets products, especially derivatives, will be highly beneficial.


+ Formulate and define systems scope and objectives for complex projects and foster communication between business leaders and IT

+ Consult with users and clients to solve complex system issues/problems through in-depth evaluation of business processes, systems and industry standards and recommend solutions

+ Act as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts and work as a team to achieve business objectives, performing other duties and functions as assigned

+ Have the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision and exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

+ Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


+ 5-8 years of relevant experience with a background in Technology development

+ Experience in data analysis including practical experience of applying industry-standard data modelling techniques using appropriate tools.

+ Proven interpersonal, diplomatic, management and prioritization skills

+ Proven experience of Agile delivery projects

+ Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication in English

+ Proven ability to manage multiple activities and build/develop working relationships

+ Proven self-motivation to take initiative and master new tasks quickly

+ Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and approach work methodically with attention to detail


+ Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
