The Domestic Tax Manager of Federal, State and Local Income Tax is responsible for the direct management and supervision of the company€™s state and local income tax section; tax reporting and assisting with tax audits to maximize tax savings opportunities that contribute to shareholder value while fulfilling tax payment and reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the accurate reporting of Federal, State and local income and franchise taxes. Review alternative tax positions to determine the most appropriate cost-effective filing position. Perform the review of consolidated and combined income tax returns. Lead technology and process enhancements to improve tax return compliance process. Lead the state €œreportable transaction€ disclosure process to satisfy state requirements.
  • Lead the accurate preparation of Honeywell€™s state income tax expense (both current and deferred) for financial statement purposes. Evaluate uncertain tax reporting positions and business combinations in order to properly reflect the tax treatment of such items. Contribute to Honeywell€™s Sarbanes-Oxley process for financial reporting purposes. Analyze the tax aspects of financial projections and forecasts. Lead technology and process improvements to ensure accurate, timely information provided to Honeywell financial reporting group.
  • Evaluate requests for information from government officials and participate in developing strategies to successfully defend tax filing positions. Support the coordination and implementation of audit strategies. Stay abreast of legal developments and industry positions in order to accurately evaluate options and responses to requests for information.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop state and local income tax professionals. Coordinate and consult with SBG Tax Directors and other tax professionals. Direct external tax advisors on a project-by-project basis.

    You must have
    • Bachelor€™s Degree
    • 5+ years of experience in Federal, multi-state tax, provision and compliance
    • 2+ years working within Big 4 or Fortune 100 tax teams

      We value
      • Degrees in accounting preferred in addition to CPA or law degree with an emphasis in taxation
      • Technical knowledge of tax laws & regulations
      • US GAAP Financial accounting skills with a working knowledge of accounting for income taxes
      • Comprehensive understanding of tax technology inclusive of Corptax, Tableau, Alteryx, OneSource Workflow Manager as well as an enhanced level of Microsoft excel ability
      • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze financial statements.
      • Excellent eye for business with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing company
      • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions to complex issues.
      • Strong communication and presentation skills
