Responsibilities

Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

This Systems Engineer will provide SE support to a dynamic and evolving mission environment. The employee may perform a variety of systems engineering functions within the Systems Engineering V and within the SE Lifecycle to include project initiation activities, project oversight and engineering consultation, IV&V, and architecture. The role will be involved in the development and deployment of systems and capabilities, helping to author whitepapers and technology insertion. The position includes performance measure and metrics analysis; software, systems and enterprise architecture, trade studies, requirements analysis, project definition, project management, contribute and document Technical Exchange Meetings and provide support to readiness events. The SE will be responsible for project documentation, schedule and project control and systems analysis. The role is junior and the preferred candidate should have strong technical skills and still be a learner, not an expert.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a SE under the auspices of a customer Branch organization facilitating projects and SE activities.
  • Provide cross-organizational support and collaboration to enable the deployment of systems and capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary program interface to the customers branch organization, handling tasks, logistics and coordination.
  • Develop optimization or improvement strategies, and methodologies.
  • Align systems & capabilities within the division and branch ensuring traceability to key technical roadmap activities and strategic objectives.
  • Use of strong interpersonal skills to coordinate the implementation of enabling technologies and disciplines (such as Machine Learning, Data Science, etc.) in a variety of efforts.

Qualifications

Requires 2 to 5 years with BS/BA or 0 to 2 years with MS/MA/MBA or 8 to 10 years with no degree.

  • Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering; cyber and cloud technologies; internet of things; knowledge management;
  • Understanding of one or more of the following: Internet technologies or architectures, Biometrics, Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence; Systems Engineering lifecycle
  • High degree of technical literacy and ability to rapidly learn complex concepts and technologies
  • Ability to speak confidently, articulately, and clearly in order to participate in and brief at technical meetings and milestone events
  • Capability to write clearly and articulately and use appropriate provided templates, formats, and checklists to write documentation to include discrepancy reports, correspondence regarding system issues, and weekly activity report inputs.
