Citis Personal Banking and Wealth Management (PBWM) group has a unique opportunity to leverage its consumer relationships and footprint, technology and leading consumer banking position to deliver customer value in a targeted and impactful way. Citi optimizes resources across Consumer and Corporate businesses on our cross platform goals to deliver a remarkable customer experience. The Global Business Development and Strategy group plays a pivotal role in coordinating across Citi businesses and functions to lead key external relationships and initiatives to achieve our PBWM strategic goals.

The Role:

The Business Development (BD) SVP will work closely with the Business Development Leadership Team to support the overall mission of the team which is growth and profitability of PBWM. The successful candidate requires expertise in negotiation, internal and external relationship management, astute financial acumen and an exceptional understanding of the payments industry, financial services and digital commerce. The individual will assist in providing leadership and expertise on informing, solving and driving the execution of the most critical strategic partnerships and negotiations for PBWM.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Assist in identifying and segmenting new business prospects, facilitating prospecting activities through market and client research

+ Manage pipeline tracking of potential partners process includes evaluating prospective partners vs. our assessment criteria, RFP response management, contribution to product, business concept and business case development, contract development/negotiations, and ensuring smooth implementation transition to the business post-execution of an agreement

+ Assist in transactions from beginning to close (client sourcing, pitching, M&A process, valuation analyses, due diligence, negotiations, closing)

+ Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities

+ Develop and customize sales pitches and presentations for prospective partners; prepare internal / external business development presentations and manage creative process for key prospect meetings

+ Assist in managing internal and external processes for sourcing, evaluating, winning and closing new partner programs and retention of existing relationships

+ Assess operational and technical requirements for partnership implementation

+ Maintain a governance structure for all PBWM deals

+ Ensure consistent use, improvement and maintenance of the Business Development playbook on methodologies for managing deals

+ Manage agency and consultant interactions as necessary

+ Maximize Citis holistic position and be a proactive conduit between PBWM and the Institutional Clients Group (ICG)

+ Work with product specialists and subject matter experts across the bank to structure customized solutions that meet clients unique needs

+ Familiarize yourself and adhere to applicable control / compliance requirements related to deal process/approvals, partner management and final internal sign off documentation

+ Coordinate internal RFP response for new business opportunities

+ Participate in new partner negotiation

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

+ BA/BS required, MBA preferred

+ 8 or more years of financial services experience, preferably with prior experience in Business Development, Investment Banking or Consulting and background in the payments industry, digital commerce and Fin Tech

+ Capable of managing multiple projects

+ Experience in P&L management and/or product development preferred

+ Comfort level and experience managing amidst ambiguity via start-up venture, new or growth-oriented initiatives

+ Track record of participating and/or leading (parts of) large complex cross-functional teams through business development and partner renegotiation

+ Effective team player and ability to partner across a highly matrixed, cross functional organization

+ Self-motivated/highly adaptive and able to work well in high stress

+ Strong analytical, financial and problem management skills

+ Strong relationship management skills and experience with senior client executives

+ Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills

+ Demonstrated ability to gain consensus and alignment within a matrix environment

+ Continuously challenging the status quo

+ Conducts rigorous analysis and is able to synthesize complex and multiple source data into fact based and nuanced solutions

+ High ethical standards and mature risk tolerance who structures deals balancing risk and reward

+ Ability to build credible and trusting relationships across the firm and with key external partners
