Our recently announced offering, Cengage Unlimited, will launch this fall and change the game for students across the country. As our SVP, Marketing Strategy and Operations, youll play a critical role in helping bring the companys audacious goals to life, serving as a right hand to the CMO and providing thought partnership on critical Marketing initiatives and milestones. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, youll apply your deep expertise in both strategy definition and operations to evolve and optimize the Cengage Marketing function. Working jointly with the CMO and other senior Marketing leaders, you will define and execute a cohesive Marketing strategy, aligned to Cengage corporate strategy, that incorporates internal insights, external trends, and Marketing best practices. A proven leader, you will lead and develop a broad team that includes experts in Marketing Strategy, Marketing Operations, Marketing Analytics, Market/Customer Research, and other core functions. With your unique blend of strategy, operations, and Marketing domain expertise, you will be responsible for optimizing Marketing processes, uncovering customer insights to optimize Marketing impact and ROI, and measuring and growing Marketing contribution to overall Cengage business goals. You will collaborate with leaders across Marketing to execute the strategy and drive impact. A critical integrator for the Marketing organization, you will also work with partners in Sales, Product, Technology, Corporate Strategy, Finance, and HR to identify, develop and implement cross-functional initiatives. **What You'll Do Here:** + Drive the annual Marketing strategic planning cycle, aligning with Corporate Strategy, Sales, and other functional/BU strategic planning milestones + Identify, prioritize, and lead strategic projects that will move the needle in Marketing organization; projects will include framing problem statement and approach, conducting analysis, synthesizing insights and implications, engaging with stakeholders and presenting to senior audiences + Construct a measurement framework that enables optimization of B2B (faculty and institutions) and B2C (student) Marketing ROI + Drive development and optimization of standard Marketing dashboards + Improve Marketing process discipline by defining and driving implementation of key Marketing processes, and fostering continual improvement + Optimize the end-to-end lead management process, jointly with Demand Generation, Business Information Systems and Sales + Set vision for Marketing technology and data strategy that will enable achievement of vision for delivering seamless, personalized messages to right customer at right time throughout customer lifecycle + Evolve the Marketing tech stack, with close collaboration with Technology and Business Information Systems (BIS), inclusive of needs assessment, requirements definition and active participation with BIS in vendor evaluation and selection, integration, and ongoing platform management + Engage with partners in Technology organization to translate Marketing strategy into implications on technology roadmap such as database structure, data taxonomy, and systems integrations + Oversee Market and Customer Research agenda + Forge strong relationships with other senior Marketing leaders and drive alignment across key interlock areas such as strategy, business goals, campaign planning, execution, and measurement + Partner with CMO and other Marketing and HR leaders to assess and improve employee engagement + Manage operating budget for Strategy and Operations team + Stay abreast of Marketing trends and best practices and integrate into ongoing strategy evolution + Juggle multiple projects in a dynamic, high-pressure environment **Skills You Will Need Here:** + At least ten (10) years' experience with mix of strategy (i.e. top tier management strategy consulting and / or senior internal strategy role) and operational (i.e. Customer facing / Go-To-Market role in leading organization) environments + Deep understanding of B2B demand generation principles (sales pipeline and lead management, nurturing, analytics, optimizing conversion through funnel); experience in both B2B and B2C Marketing environments a plus + A strategic yet execution-oriented leader who enjoys both planning and digging into details + Demonstrated success of driving revenue and maximizing company profits + Ability to work with others to deeply understand what drives great results and get things done + Ability to work well cross functionally to build alignment and reach objectives + Strong interpersonal capabilities; ability to develop strong trust-based relationships and manage effectively; ability to build and motivate high-functioning teams + Strong business acumen including exposure/experience in Marketing, sales, operations management, budgeting, forecasting and economics + Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence teams and key decision makers + Excellent presentation and communication skills + Strong analytical and excel skills + An affinity for dynamic, high-pressure environments + Professionalism balanced with a fun attitude and sense of humor + Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred **Requisition ID** _2018-4984_ **Job Function** _Marketing_
