NGC Medical designs, builds, and manages Cath Labs, Cardiac Surgery Operating Rooms, Intensive Care Units, and General Surgery Units under the formula of a full managed service for a hospital. The fully customized model typically includes:

Designing and building the department

Equipment and furnishings

Maintenance and technology updates

Supply and management of all medical devices and consumables, including custom procedure packs

On-site service staff

A unique aspect of NGC is that it supplies the complete portfolio of products and services to enable a hospital department to conduct procedures, including those that are provided by Medtronics direct competitors.

NGC Medical was acquired by Medtronic in 2014 as part of its Integrated Heath Solutions strategy which includes 3 areas:

Process excellence

Cath Lab managed services (run through NGC in Italy)

Care Pathway Management

The acquisition of NGC adds an established hospital managed services capability to Medtronics growing portfolio of health solutions for hospitals, and enhances its ability to provide higher levels of economic value.


Reporting to the NGC Supply Chain Manager, the primary role of the NGC Supply Chain Analyst is to establish operational excellence of the supply chain and customer service for Key Accounts in Rome and Milan. The candidate will have full remit to address any area of the supply chain, from ordering, warehousing, shipping and consuming of stock as well as the IT, people and processes surrounding these functions.

The role will include the management of end-to-end supply chain processes for NGC materials management, and will work in close collaboration with a broad number of stakeholders, including the customer, 3rd party suppliers/ partners, NGC Customer Services, on-site Service Delivery team, IT, NGC Finance, Logistics and Distribution and QA/RA.

The success of this role will be measured using hard metrics, such as

- Service Levels to hospital (accurate and timely order processing / billing) for accounts in scope

- Scrap/ Obsolete stock reduction

- Increase of processing volumes per FTE

- Optimisation of stock levels


Optimising scrap and obsolescence across NGC network, especially the Key Accounts: carrying out analysis of all stock locations in order to minimize product obsolescence. This might include:

o Review stock locations structure in ERP system

o Review/ improve return process from NGC to suppliers

o Promote stock transfer among accounts to minimize expiring products

o Periodical reporting of expiring products

o Working with Service Delivery in hospitals to review processes and storage practices

Managing and continually improving operational processes and interactions between 3rd party logistics service providers and Hospital as well as local Customer Service in Milan. This includes

o Inventory control and compliance with Policy for stock management

o Purchase order management and supplier performance management

o Ensuring operational cost control

o Supporting Business Development to shape and appropriately solution incremental client offerings and commercial models

Define and deliver Supply Chain projects (or manage the process), such as:

o Warehouse stock management

o Better use of OCR technology

o Monitor logistics partner performances (carriers, logistics partner)

o Monitor logistics expenses (e.g. carriers) and support in the negotiation process providing analysis and data

KPIs reporting:

o Develop a Supply Chain KPIs dashboard

o Monthly tracking of KPIs



University degree in relevant academic field

Fluent in English and Italian


7-10 years experience in similar role working for multi-national, or 12-15 years working for a smaller organisation

Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate, support and develop teams

Strong knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing, especially within health care

Ability to challenge existing practices while maintaining and enhancing services and standards

Experience in the Medical Devices industry is preferred.


Strong project management and service delivery skills

Flexible and hands-on attitude

Ability to work and take decision independently

Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels

Customer and business minded

Ability to interact with multi-national employees on different hierarchy levels

Team player
