Job Description:

Directs assembly and test activities in Passive group.  Plans, organizes and supervises the activities of assemblers and technicians engaged in the assembly, test and troubleshooting of RF/microwave components, subsystems and/or complex electronic modules.  Provides for optimum utilization of manpower, equipment, purchased material and facilities in accordance with cost, schedule, quality and customer requirements.  The selected candidate must have the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.  The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but is not limited to the duties described below.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that all assembly and test activities are performed to meet quantity and quality output goals and assures conformance to work standards, production schedules and resource allocation.  Delegates work assignments and coordinates priorities to supervisory staff.
  • Anticipates and takes actions to resolve problems as it relates to production.  Manages and supports technical solutions regarding issues on our product lines.  Works closely with engineering to understand test requirements through the life cycle of new products and sustaining equipment requirements and test procedure protocols.
  • Trains and instructs subordinates in the performance of their duties by providing them with guidance to achieve cost, schedule and quality objectives while improving their capabilities.  Recommends changes to training methods and procedures.
  • Approves and ensures maintenance of test department documentation, data and procedures.  Recommends use and purchase of test equipment, changes to test data sheets and test flow procedures to reduce test time costs.
  • Ensures the safety of employees in their exposure to our varied test and environment screening processes.
  • Plan, monitor and expedite the flow of required hardware to support the monthly revenue plan.
  • Participates in EAC cost initiatives, reporting significant impacts and variances.
  • Reviews cost history of established products and designs during the bidding phase.
  • Monitor and support customer repairs using the production test resources equitably.
  • Helps plan, coordinate and control the production operation approach by supporting the engineering effort during breadboard and prototype troubleshooting and alignment.  Performs prototype and component evaluation if required.
  • Monitors work in progress and ensures that all procedures are followed in accordance with Narda-MITEQ rules and regulations pertaining to ISO/AS9100 mandates.
  • Responsible for the preparation of test reports and progress reports to support Program Management if required.
  • Participates in various product support meetings as required.


    • Understands basic supervisory approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, and process execution.
    • Typically requires broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within assigned discipline.
    • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
    • Must possess excellent communication skills with ability to exchange information with others clearly and concisely.
    • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

      Preferred Additional Skills:

      • Familiarity with microwave test equipment and testing/troubleshooting microwave components is desired
      • Must be computer literate, be adept in the use of Microsoft Office and possess a working knowledge of pertinent MIL-SPEC standards as it relates to RF/MW products. 
      • Must be able to lead and direct people in their daily work activities. 
      • Must be able to work in a multi-faceted, high paced environment, interfacing with all levels of company personnel.
