onstruction Superintendent supporting our program in Annapolis Junction, MD. Employees in this job function as professional building construction project superintendents, completing or overseeing a variety of assignments related to the construction, remodeling and maintenance of buildings and facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Makes field inspections of building projects under construction to determine compliance with plans, specifications, applicable codes, and appropriate construction practice. Reviews plans, specifications, construction cost data, and other contract documents to identify and point out errors, omissions, code violations, and design inadequacies.

  • Monitors construction to make sure that work is being completed according to schedule; recommends action, as necessary, to bring about adherence to schedule.

  • Reviews and approves the contractor pay request by verifying that the work for which payment is being requested has been satisfactorily completed.

  • Verifies that all necessary inspections, approvals, and certifications by appropriate agencies have been completed.

  • Attends meetings with parties to the contract concerning contract requirements, job conditions, progress, work quality, disputes, allocation of funds, and other problems.

  • Researches and advises on changes in methods and material for incorporation into future construction project plans.

  • Investigates documentation on change orders and recommends action on them.

  • Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work.

  • Consult and assist architects, engineers, owners, and state and federal agencies in the enforcement and interpretation of fire safety rules and regulations as they apply in design, construction, and operation of regulated facilities.

  • Performs related work as assigned.

  • Have the ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges and exhibit normal balance and coordination.

  • Lift / Carry tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner personally and assisted when required.

  • Have sufficient range of motion of all extremities and spine to work in awkward postures.

  • Verbally communicate with other employees.

  • Have the ability to hear audible safety alarms and warnings.

  • Have specific vision abilities to adequately perform the above listed tasks in a safe manner.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must have an active, fully adjudicated TS security clearance.

  • High school diploma and 8 years experience in field construction supervision or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TS/SCI w/poly preferred.
