Submarine Forward End Engineering Technician

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Submarine Technician to provide engineering Support to Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF) supporting shop 67E/G.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  1. Research technical documentation and develop test plans for use in troubleshooting, fault localization and failure analysis of Sensors, Outboard Cables, and Electrical Hull Penetrators.

  2. Test, troubleshoot, remove, rebuild and/or replace, reintall and re-test AN/BQQ-5 series:

  3. AN/BSY-1, and AN/BQQ-10 TR-317 transducers, hull penetrators, and hull penetrator inboard cables.

  4. Hull mounted hydrophones, transducers, projectors, and outboard cable assemblies associated with Sonar Systems

  5. External electrical components associated with the Vertical Launch Systems

  6. External components associated with the Torpedo Tube external switches and associated cabling.

  7. External components associated with the external Countermeasure Launch System

  8. Liaison with STSC for troubleshooting and repair of Fast Attack towe array handling systems.

  9. Generate Technical Work Documents (TWD) for all spherical array and any other bow dome located tasks as assigned.

  10. Attend and participate in daily production meetings as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of full-time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of submarine combat systems and/or weapons handling equipment. Experience in evaluating the material condition of ship systems and implementing correct actions.

  • General Experience: Five (5) years of full-time technical experience in the design, installation, test, or repair of mechanical/electrical/electronic systems/equipment

  • Position may require travel.

  • Position requires a Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF) experience
