Reporting to and under the direction of the Director of Student-Athlete Development, the Student-Athlete Development Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and execution of the Boundless Futures student-athlete development program for 650 student-athletes in 22 sports at the University of Washington. In collaboration with the Student-Athlete Academic Services Staff (SAAS), Athletics Department staff, and campus entities, the Coordinator will ensure student-athletes are provided with relevant support services and programming in the areas of career development, personal development, community service, and leadership.

Event Coordination and Execution
  • In conjunction with the Director of Student-Athlete Development and the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development, the Coordinator is responsible for supporting the execution of the comprehensive Student-Athlete Development program for student-athletes.
  • Promote, coordinate and schedule workshops, panels, events, and programs to enhance the career and leadership development and preparation of UW student-athletes.
  • Implement and execute programming in the areas of student-athlete orientation & life transitions, career development (student-athlete career fairs, career industry pipeline programs, etc.), personal development, community service, and leadership.
  • Plan and execute the annual Dinner with a Dawg and other career events under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development.
  • Schedule and execute all presentations and guest speakers for student program sessions, mandatory programming and team workshops in all topic areas including personal, professional and leadership development.
  • Manage the application process and selection for the Husky Leadership Academy, as directed. Assist with all logistics for the Husky Leadership Academy including purchasing supplies, designing collateral and marketing materials and developing student leadership workbooks annually, and the coordination of meetings and the execution of all sessions.
  • Execute and facilitate New Student-Athlete Orientation programs for freshmen and transfer student-athletes each quarter under the program direction and oversight of the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development to plan and execute all aspects of annual SAAS and Boundless Futures special events including: Husky Kickoff Barbeque, Dinner with a Dawg, Windermere Cup Community Service event, WSAAC events, and the Graduation Reception.

    Administrative Roles
  • Develop and maintain Boundless Futures brand, marketing and recruiting materials promoting student-athlete development programs and services for constituent groups.
  • Establish and maintain a strong campus presence to ensure close working relationships with university staff, faculty, administration, and alumni so that coordination of efforts may take place where appropriate.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development, schedule, coordinate and track all voluntary and mandated student-athlete programming including but not limited to; sexual assault and violence preventions, drug and alcohol education and diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Assist with the nomination, completion, and processing of NCAA, Pac-12 and UW awards, postgraduate scholarships, and leadership conferences for student-athletes.
  • Serve as an advisor for the WSAAC committee. Coordinate all meetings, elections, service, projects and events.
  • Update and oversee production of the UW Student-Athlete Handbook annually.
  • Participate in recruiting visits and presentations as requested.
  • Maintain master student-athlete program calendar and measurement and tracking documents.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director - Student Development, the Director of Student-Athlete Development or the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development.

    Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pacific-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sports Management or a related field required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in the area of student development, college athletics, academic services, or related field.
  • Proven ability to develop programs and coordinate resources at the college level. Significant understanding of the lives and challenges of student-athletes.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously and with limited direction and complete projects by established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated work experience with evidence of strong organizational, time management, communication, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, campus administrators, and staff.
    Evening hours required on a weekly basis in addition to occasional weekend hours.

  • Master's degree in Education, Sports Management, Counseling or Exercise Science/Leadership strongly preferred.
  • Event planning experience strongly preferred.
  • Student-athlete development experience and experience teaching courses strongly preferred.
