Job Description
Do you like to help others achieve their goals and realize their dreams? In the Office of Student Accounts you can do just that. As the Student Accounts Associate, you will serve as the first line of counsel to undergraduates, graduates, and parents regarding the charges and credits to their University financial account. In addition to counseling, you will gain and develop a comprehensive knowledge of the business process by which students are charged tuition and fees. You will learn the principles of collecting, including understanding the practices of other campus offices (e.g., Financial Aid, Registrar, Graduate School, Law School, MBA Programs, Health Center, ND International, etc.) and be able to clearly communicate these processes to the students and parents.

With this position, you will have a knowledge of the principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of accounting and banking. You will also receive training to understand the admissions and financial aid processes in order to respond to high level questions, including understanding the point at which the inquiry should be escalated to another University office. Our office will encourage you to participate on departmental and divisional committees and perform other responsibilities as apportioned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, experience with, and/or proficiency in personal computer skills including, but not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and Google Workspace (Gmail and Calendar).
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work in a fast paced environment that requires multi-tasking skills.
  • Must have strong communication skills in English (oral and written) to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality working with sensitive matters.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail, the ability to solve problems and think critically within the context of a complex business process, knowledge of technology, including the ability to recommend ways to increase effectiveness and efficiency of communication and operations.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited, four-year institution
  • 1-2 years of experience in higher education setting or financial-related area
  • Knowledge of, and/or experience with, some/all of the following systems:
    • Banner
    • Various banking platforms (e.g., 1stSource, Chase, Western Union)
    • Nelnet QuikPay
