The Communication Specialist is a member of the Office of Donor Relations & Engagement (DR&E) and reports to the Director of Donor Relations and Engagement. This position organizes and coordinates functions and services pertaining to solicitation and stewardship of donors, including providing timely communication about gifts. 

This position is an integral part of a team of advancement professionals whose responsibilities include the annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, and corporate and foundation relations. This position works closely with the other members of the Advancement Office, other University personnel, and volunteers to translate the Universitys mission and goals into substantial achievements in fundraising and general advancement. 

  • Designs and produces creative collateral for distribution to internal and external constituents, including but not limited to stewardship impact pieces, donor-centered recognition, proposals and other solicitations, and planned giving and annual fund features
  • Assists with maintenance online giving platform
  • Acts as a liaison to various internal and external vendors
  • Assists with other donor communications functions, including but not limited to writing, proofreading, and enhancing donor communications produced by the Office of Advancement  
  •  Works closely with development leadership and staff to create donor proposals, including design work, interviewing potential beneficiaries, and production for distribution to donors
  • Gathers information from campus sources, organizes it effectively, and produces engaging and detailed communications for donors that enhance the donors relationship with the university
  • Prepares customized impact reports related to fundraising initiatives
  • Strategizes with development officers on how best to personalize messaging and maintain strong relationships with donors
  • Interviews faculty, students, and alumni to get the most interesting, timely, and accurate information for impact pieces
  • Assists with writing resolutions for approval by the Board of Trustees as needed
Annual Salary Range: $38,210 - $49,110.

@!*!Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

  • Graphic design software knowledge including Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign experience)
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
