Summary of Essential Job Duties: Sterile Processing Coordinator oversees and follows department business and regulatory practices when receiving, inventorying, processing and returning of vendor loaner, consigned and owned instrument & implant trays. Responsible for guiding and providing support in instrument navigation between the operating rooms and Sterile Processing Department and facilitates the movement, inspection, and delivery of trays between each floor and the Sterile Processing Department. Other major duties include, but are not limited to, distribution of supplies or equipment, customer service and departmental efficiencies. Oversees the Instrument Management System and works with clinical staff and department supervisors to ensure instrument needs are met, as well as assist in determining if products and/or instruments need to be sourced through vendor. Provide options and alternatives on products and/or instruments that meet case needs and coordinate any logistics with internal staff and/or vendor that may be needed. Communicates with all necessary vendors and internal staff to coordinate the timely delivery, process and pick up of loaner trays/tubs used in procedures. Identifies instrument sets to be put into production and coordinates with educator and supervisors to provide applicable in-service to staff. Receives and validates all instruments and implants within vendor loaner trays and tubs, and ensures all items are approved for use. Coordinates the Receipt to Return process for all loaned trays, implant tubs and other products and/or instruments. Oversees the preventative maintenance and the repair work flow for all instruments sets and trays. Assist leadership with cost management efforts, regarding request of new products or usage of vendors products and/or instruments Utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and monitors other staff for compliance. Educational Requirements: Minimal requirement for a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Vocational/Technical diploma is preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technologists. Bachelors Degree if preferred, but not required. License/Certification/Registration Requirements: CRCST is required (Certified Registered Central Services Technician) from IAHCSMM. Experience: 5-year experience is required as a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist experience to include decontamination, wrapping, sterilization and infection control of basic instrumentation or related field. Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) ABLE TO STAND OR WALK 75% OF THE TIME AND LIFT, PUSH OR PULL UP TO 50 POUNDS. HAS THE PHYSICAL DEXTERITY AND PERCEPTIVE ACUITY, VISUAL AND HEARING, TO SATISFACTORILY PERFORM ALL REQUIRED DUTIES. E XERCISES CARE AND GOOD BODY MECHANICS IN LIFTING AND HANDLING EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION. WORKS IN MOIST WARM AREAS AND SOME RESTRICTED SPACES. WORKS WITH HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, CHEMICALS, DETERGENTS, DISINFECTANTS, AND ETO. WORKS WITH CONTAMINATED/INFECTIOUS MATERIALS INCLUDING BLOOD AND BODY FLUIDS. OPERATES STEAM, ETO AND CHEMICAL STERILIZERS AND OTHER RELATED EQUIPMENT.
