Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is part of the Medical Devices division. ADC designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge blood glucose monitoring technology for use in both home and hospital settings, including our revolutionary Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System. In our Centre of Excellence in Witney, we design, develop and manufacture test strips and biosensors which are used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes.

The Technical Operations Group at ADC, Witney is looking to recruit a Statistics Lead / Senior Statistician to join our team to lead statistical support activities for the manufacture, continuous improvement and process & performance monitoring of our products. The successful candidiate would be based in the Witney office.

Typical work includes:

  • Lead and manage the Statistics team in regard to resource, development, activities, and day to day deliverables
  • Support on-going manufacturing, stability and product performance monitoring
  • Manipulate and challenge data and processes to drive improvements
  • Support technical investigations performed within the manufacturing unit
  • Assist with the introduction of analytical test methods & development trials (analysis of variance, setting acceptance criteria & capability analysis) and support efforts to reduce measurement variability
  • Work with technologists, scientists and engineers to introduce new machines, materials and processes, inputting into the design of experiments and analysis of resultant data

    As a Senior member of the Technical Services Statistics team you would be expected to develop a thorough understanding of ADC products and processes to allow you to lead the completion of the activities listed above; ensuring that appropriate statistical methodologies are used and that the output meets the requiremets of the business.

    As a minimum, you should hold a HND or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics or a numerical science subject. You will bring a breadth of experience and passion for team leadership, people management, and talent development/coaching/mentoring. You will have good oral and written communication skills to be able to prepare reports, interpret results, and provide effective summaries for specialist and non-specialist audiences. You must be organised and flexible in your approach to work, with good attention to detail in order to ensure that data and analyses are accurate and meet the requirements of the project. Previous experience working in a regulated or manufacturing environment, and SAS programming are advantageous.
