United Hospital, located in downtown St. Paul, Minn., is the largest hospital in the Twin Cities east metro area, providing innovative services and programs, such as the Nasseff Heart Center, United Heart; Vascular Clinic and Vascular Center; neuroscience care through the John Nasseff Neuroscience Institute for the treatment of brain aneurisms, Bentson Family Foundation Neurological Intensive Care Unit, Brain Tumor Center and the Nasseff Neuroscience Center; as well as psychiatry, womens health, surgical, rehabilitation and emergency services. Responsibilities

  • Provides sufficient qualified staff for patient care units/departments in accordance with unit-based staffing plans
  • Allocates staff according to patient care needs on a shift-to-shift basis
  • Receive ill/absence calls on a daily basis and make appropriate staffing adjustments.
  • Distributes float pool and available staff, obtains additional staff or gives time off as indicated by patient care needs
  • Performs these functions in compliance with Federal Wage and hour laws union contracts, and budgetary constraints.
  • Patient Care Support Services office is open from 4:00AM until 11:30 PM.

Education

  • High school diploma
  • Prefer post-high school training in business, computer, etc.

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Preferred healthcare work experience for 2 years, preferable in a clinic setting (i.e.- nursing assistant, medical receptionist, etc.)

  • Understanding of clinic systems and nursing functions
  • Demonstrates precision and orientation to detail organization and ability to meet deadline
  • Creative problem-solving skills

Work Schedule

  • 20 hours a work
  • Variable start times: 4:00am, 7:30am, 12:00pm, 3:00pm
