Job Description

This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storage business to SK Hynix. The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

As a SSD Product Development Engineer, you will be part of a world-class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK Hynix.

This position is for a Client SSD Power and Performance debug engineer and test development engineer who is responsible for driving power and performance related issue debug and validation for the next generation of Intel's industry-leading PCIe Solid State Drives.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK Hynix.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Define power and performance benchmarks, workloads, test cases and BKMs

  • Analyze power and performance data from execution team and identify issues

  • Debug SSD power and performance issues and drive root-cause/fix independently working with cross teams

  • Debug system-level power and performance failures

  • Execute test cases as part of the debug and analyze logs to isolate the issue

  • Discusses technical issues with architects, FW developers, RST engineers, platform experts as necessary to achieve best solution

  • Work with automation team to enable end to end automation for all the power and performance tests

  • Communicate and train other teammates on new methods to improve validation methodologies, documentation, and automated testing within the team

This job requires a team player with strong technical expertise, planning, and communication skills who is motivated to deliver quality test results in a timely manner.


You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Relevant experience can be obtained through school work, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/ or work experience. This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 1+ year experience with debugin or validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in PCIe andor NVMe protocol and debug including knowledge of relevant debug tools protocol analyzers, scopes logic analyzers, etc.

  • Knowledge of SSD Power and Performance measurements.

  • Knowledge of system power and performance benchmarks and KPIsKEIs.

  • Knowledge of SSD debug and validation.

  • Knowledge of NAND/Optane memory.

  • Python coding experience.
