Job summary
The AWS Jam team is revolutionizing how people learn to build on the AWS cloud. AWS Jam enables cloud developers and technologists develop and sharpen their AWS cloud skills through simulated real-world hands-on challenges built around teamwork and competition.

As a Sr. Solutions Architect, you will work in lockstep with Product, Design, and Engineering to build and deliver the next generation of learning experiences on AWS Jam. You will be responsible for building new AWS Jam challenges to exceed customer expectations. You will own all parts that lead to an immersive experience, including challenge storytelling, narratives, visuals, and game thinking. You will work with audience representatives to understand training needs and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts across AWS (including Developers, Support Engineers, Professional Services, and Solutions Architects) to build technically accurate gamified AWS training. You don€™t need to know all AWS services, but are expected to have the technical aptitude to understand and leverage new AWS services to deliver for specific customer training needs. You will create highly immersive challenges for new customer requests with minimal oversight, including building and running automated tests to ensure your challenges live up to customer expectations. You will develop scalable mechanisms such as reports and automated notifications that provide regular visibility into the quality of the catalog of challenges and broken experiences. Your work will serve as the bar-raising standard to follow for other Jam challenge builders. You might be required to help correct issues for production challenges on behalf of other challenge builders. You will also work with Design to establish best-practices, apply game design elements that improve engagement and learning outcomes, and develop demos for new features. You will design and conduct experiments for new challenges and new learning game formats. You will establish and track KPIs and metrics, gathering data to verify the results of ongoing experimentation, and make data-driven recommendations on how to improve the learner experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications or infrastructures
  • 8+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)

€¢ A Bachelor€™s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience;
€¢ 5+ years software/technology customer facing experience;
€¢ Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

€¢ Professional experience in building learning games, training simulations, gamification, and educational technology;
€¢ Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS;
€¢ One or more AWS certifications, e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate;
€¢ Experience in working backwards from the customer and delivering innovative, simple solutions;
€¢ Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $122,30 - $160,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. Base pay information is based on market location.
