Software Development Engineer (MTS)


THE ROLE

The Software Systems Engineering (SSE) organization drives product and software quality at AMD. A specialized technical group focused onSoftware Quality Assurance within SSE is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic software engineer to develop and enhance internal validation tools, facilitate adoption of open-source solutions where suitable, and drive innovation around methods to enable graphics driver testing with cloud technologies.

  • Deep understanding of computer technology and passionate about what you do
  • Keen to learn new technologies and quickly try hands on via prototyping
  • Good communication skills for understanding requirements and presenting prototype results
  • Great team player and capable of working across teams transparently
  • Ability to plan and liaise with team members over project execution

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Youll be part of a dynamic team that explores innovative ways to enhance methods used to validate GPU drivers with cloud technologies
  • Develop quick prototyping of methods and tools not already explored
  • Understand requirement and document prototype results
  • Explore and drive internal adoption of opensource technologies where suited
  • Transition prototypes to validation and engineering teams for evaluation or POR delivery
  • Present ideas and prototype solutions internally
  • Collaborate and communicate with multiple teams within AMD

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals and problem-solving skills
  • Strong C or C++, and Go or Rust programming language skills
  • Deep understanding of operating systems design, concurrency, multi-core hardware, device drivers and real-time programming
  • Good understanding of container technology internals such as Docker, LXC, etc.
  • Good knowledge or experience working with the internals of Linux/Unix-like kernels
  • Exposure to KVM/QEMU is a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant development experience
  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
