Most importantly, with everything we do, we put learning first. **What You'll Do Here:** The Research Manager will work closely with Product and Platform team members to understand student and instructor needs and workflows to inform Cengages digital product design and user experience decisions. The manager will design and execute ongoing and custom projects that may include market, product, platform, and commercial model research. All projects may include qualitative and quantitative analysis and data visualizations that drive decisions through consultative partnerships and compelling storytelling. Essential Responsibilities/Duties: + Translate business questions and hypotheses into qualitative and quantitative research projects + Develop analysis plans (handled internally or externally by research partners) in service of project objectives, including internal data analysis, secondary research and/or recommending/employing statistical methodologies such as segmentation, multivariate analysis, discrete choice modeling, and experimental design, etc. + Execute research to complement primary research as needed + Develop insights and implications from the research, and share and interpret those learnings and recommendations with the internal client team in an impactful and client-ready fashion + Data-mine rich clickstream data to create behavioral segments and usage insights + Design and implement scalable processes to answer recurring student and/or instructor research questions **Skills You Will Need Here:** + Master's degree/other advanced degree with a strong background in business, market research, or behavioral sciences (e.g., Math/Stats, Psychology, Behavioral Economics/Decision Sciences, etc.) preferred. + Excellent project management and thought leadership skills; strong collaboration / teamwork skills; a problem-solver with a results-orientated approach + Experience in top-tier management consulting firms (2+ years) or as researcher in B2C or research vendor (2+ years) + Experience applying qualitative and quantitative market research techniques to a variety of product development/marketing issues + Experienced user of digital research tools (e.g., Qualtrics, online qualitative discussion boards/focus groups) + Experience in higher ed or education preferred but not required Key Skills: + Excellent communication and strong client facing skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis in simple terms and convert analysis into real world actionable solutions + Autonomous, hands-on experience designing, programming, synthesizing and delivering research initiatives from beginning to end: initial project design and set up, data collection and processing, analytics, and communication of findings and recommendation + Excellent time management, project management and thought leadership skills + Strong collaboration/teamwork skills; a problem-solver with a results-orientated approach + Technical data science skills a plus: projects vary from small ad-hoc to large continuous surveys and into the realm of big data behavioral analytics projects, where sources other than survey metrics are analyzed (knowledge of R, Q, SPSS, Sawtooth a plus) + First-hand, practical experience with a range of qualitative and quantitative techniques, including: 1:1 interviews/IDIs, focus groups, concept testing, positioning, benefit testing, segmentation analysis, need state segmentation, conjoint or discrete choice-based methods, experimental design + Proactive with the ability to think out-of-the-box to bring the consumer to life in an impactful way, delivering actionable insight and deep consumer understanding of motivations, attitudes and behaviors in a timely manner **Job Locations** _US-MA-Boston_ **Posted Date** _1 month ago_ _(2/20/2020 10:41 AM)_ **_Requisition ID_** _2020-8528_ **_Job Function_** _Strategy - Planning_ Cengage is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
