Sr Project Engineer - Automation

Overview<\/h2>

This engineer will lead and contribute to Automation Engineering projects for new product development, capacity expansion, continuity of supply, and maintenance of business functions.<\/p>

Responsibilities<\/h2>

Lead engineering efforts in support of the design, development, and scale-up of automated manufacturing systems for medical devices. Responsible and accountable for the successful delivery of new manufacturing processes to production and for improvement of existing processes. <\/p>

Specification, identification, selection, and installation of automated manufacturing equipment.<\/p>

Write User Requirements Specifications for automated equipment and work directly with suppliers throughout the project lifecycle to obtain quotations, ensure compliance, complete FATs/SATs, and maintain schedule and budget.  <\/p>

Lead and participate in design reviews, FMEAs, problem-solving, etc.  <\/p>

Critique product designs for manufacturability and product specifications for attainability, using data to support recommendations.<\/p>

Startup and troubleshoot new equipment and processes.<\/p>

As appropriate, implement or recommend changes to machine hardware and software.  <\/p>

Responsible for development of processes that consistently yields parts conforming to specifications.<\/p>

Conduct technology transfer of new products and processes.<\/p>

Evaluate new manufacturing technologies.  <\/p>

Lead process qualifications and validations with generation of appropriate documentation (impact analyses, validation protocols, test procedures, etc.).  Execute assigned validation testing, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documented results.<\/p>

Scope of Position: <\/p>

Represent the department in a matrix organization on cross-functional teams and with external suppliers.  <\/p>

Deliver capital equipment solutions valued from $250K to $50M for capacity expansion and new product development projects.<\/p>

An individual contributor responsible for all aspects of delivering manufacturing solutions.  Provides training and coaching to junior staff members and technicians as needed. <\/p>

Qualifications<\/h2>

BS Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or similar.<\/p>

Candidates with strong backgrounds in either Machine Design or Controls Engineering may be considered.  <\/p>

Hands-on experience with 3D design software (SolidWorks or Inventor) OR typical Controls Engineering software packages (AutoCAD, PLC/HMI/SCADA/Robotics programming packages). <\/p>

Experience:<\/p>

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of automation systems.  <\/p>

5+ years experience as a Project Engineer in either an end-user or OEM environment<\/p>

Project Management experience a plus.  <\/p>

Experience working in a FDA-regulated environment (Medical Device/Pharma) strongly preferred.  <\/p>

Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.<\/p>

Position requires strong communication and interactive skills, capable of working independently or on project teams as required. <\/p>
