Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Sr. Principal Guidance Navigation & Control Engineer. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

As a Sr. Principal Guidance Navigation and Control Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, testing, and verifying algorithms, software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation, and control of spacecraft. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to determine a desired position, orientation, or orbit in space. Control design and analysis consists of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for the spacecraft.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

+ Control subsystem requirements development and verification planning
+ Control subsystem hardware selection and requirements development
+ Review of test plans and procedures
+ Assessment of data needed to fulfill requirements
+ Support working groups and architecture/trade studies
+ Coordinate cross-program collaboration
+ Support to lower level development entities including subcontractors
+ Leadership of small team of GNC engineers, providing oversight for:

+ Control algorithm development
+ High fidelity simulation development
+ Execution of performance modeling and analysis


**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's degree in STEM with 9 years, OR Master's Degree in STEM with 7 years of experience, OR PhD. in STEM with 4 years of experience in one of the following: Aerospace, Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering
+ Experience in systems and mission engineering
+ Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:

o Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years

o OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience with spacecraft control system design: Hardware selection, algorithm development, requirements development and verification
+ Ability to manage relationships with internal and external customers
+ Software Proficiency: MATLAB, DOORS, STK
+ Effective communication skills
