Job Description:

Hands-on technical leader in a highly entrepreneurial environment, applying technical skills and experience to manage and mentor technical staff engaged in development and execution of test plans and procedures used in production contexts, as well as for program-specific requirements.  Applies troubleshooting and problem solving skills to determine failure root cause and make suggestions for necessary corrections.  Collaborates with design engineers, production test personnel and suppliers to ensure test methods are appropriate and properly conducted to verify & validate performance of products with maximum efficiency.  Products primarily include wiring for racks, consoles, form boards, aircraft and black box assemblies. Testing generally encompasses Automated Wire Analysis (AWA) testing on listed assembles.

Essential Functions:

*        The Manager, Test Engineering manages and leads staff by example, having considerable day-to-day interaction with personnel and products.  Organizes project and task workloads and selects individuals most qualified for assignments on specific projects.  Utilizes experience and hands-on skills to perform critical tests required for AWA testing and troubleshooting related issues.  Recommends changes in processes, procedures and/or objectives to enhance the effectiveness and success of the company.  The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but are not limited to the duties described below. 

*        Ensures department is staffed with competent personnel; recruit, hire, direct, correct, mentor, discipline as necessary/required for success of department.

*        Performs test engineering work and manages staff in the development and design of test procedures and test plans to meet customer requirements.

*        Estimates test engineering personnel needs; schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications.

*        Assists in the development of technical proposals and presentations to potential customers.

*        Supports divisional program management whose primary objective is to assure customer satisfaction via quality, schedule, and product performance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree with a minimum of fourteen (14) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Technical degree is strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills:

*        Strong applicable test environment experience is required.

*        Product development & support in a manufacturing or engineering environment; high-priority problem resolution in shops, labs or in the field.

*        Technical team leadership:  Mentoring and administration in such a way as to grow skill, competence and confidence among staff.

*        Strong work ethic; maintaining a sense of urgency to ensure obligations are met.

Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
