Position Summary:

The Sr. Product Planning Manager -AWS is responsible for end to end category management of new product launches for Samsungs portfolio of AWS devices.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive portfolio strategy for Smartwatch and wearable products based upon analysis of current roadmap, competitor offering and market dynamics
  • Maintain full year product roadmap, collaborate with business stakeholders, both in SEA and HQ to understand customer needs, develop future product portfolio and positioning to maximize revenue potential and meet / exceed business goals. Identify and recommend changes to close gaps, life cycle management, product end of life
  • Ensure product management for all launch related activities
  • Work across the organization to ensure launch schedule is met, manage all contingencies to eliminate delays
  • Create product value proposition documentation aligned with target segment and positioning, communicate across the organization and ensure alignment
  • Perform competitive intelligence periodic reports, produce in depth analysis of gaps / opportunities, VOC and take corrective actions
  • Play key role in developing future products (Smartwatch, Wearable products), work with account teams to ensure sell in of new products, formulate GTM strategies, execute and manage product launch activities

    Consumer Insights: Conducting consumer research to identify opportunities in the market as well as gauge consumer acceptance of existing products. Familiarity with NPD, Strategy Analytics and other consumer data and insights organizations/reporting is a plus.

    Product Management & Launch Process: Works cross functionally with HQ teams in Korea and SEA Operations to manage all aspects of product launches including launch timeline management, sample management, reporting, SKU setup, and tracking testing schedules. Collect, document and report VOC information (post product launch) and create improvement plans. Provide regular updates related to product, features or schedule changes to all teams involved in the launch process

    Go to Market: Works with Samsung Channel Organizations to sell in and launch the portfolio of Samsung Wearables such as Galaxy Watch families. Tasks include developing customer facing presentations, participating in in person meetings with customers, and product packaging development.

  • Demand Generation: Works with Samsung Demand Generation organization and outside marketing agencies to develop marketing strategies, product positioning marketing tools such as fixtures, product packaging and other demand generation activities.
  • Training: Works with training to develop internal customer facing tools to accurately present product features and benefits and existing and new technologies. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree with 12+ years of experience or Masters Degree with 8+ years of experience in product marketing or management
  • Ability to synthesize business and marketing goals into clear briefs and plans
  • An iterative thinker who can challenges the status quo
  • Consummate collaborator committed to communication excellence

  • Willing to able to travel nationally. Travel about 10% of time.

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions:

  • The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment.
  • Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal 50% of work time, including prolonged periods of time.
  • The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time under 25 pounds.
  • Performs work under time schedules and stresses which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive job stress, fatigue, unpaid over-time, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and business management stress.
  • Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids representative and commonly associated with PCs, printers, and office work areas.
  • Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule.
  • Under very little direct supervision with a high level of responsibility to apply general policies and guidelines where decisions are seldom monitored and consequences of decisions adversely affect operating results and management decisions. Complete access to confidential company data where disclosure may jeopardize the companys competitive position.
