We are currently recruiting for a Sr. Linux Systems Engineer. Job Summary: Responsible for a broad variety of technical administration, engineering, and support for Health Systems information systems, enterprise applications and infrastructure, with emphasis on Linux based systems. Support and maintain Epic EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system. Provides technical expertise and direct support for the planning, coordination, upgrade, enhancement and implementation of Linux based systems and infrastructure/application software. Ensures stable performance through performance monitoring and tuning. Performs capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction of resource needs, ensures timely system maintenance, plans and implements major software and hardware upgrades, ensuring change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed. Participates in the development and implementation of technical standards, policies, and procedures. Works as a liaison with contractors and vendors as needed. Works independently or as a member of interdisciplinary teams on complex projects. Serves as a mentor for other technical staff and provides technical consultation, guidance, and support as needed to operational and technical staff. Job Responsibilities: 1. Provides technical expertise and direct support for the planning, coordination, upgrade, enhancement and implementation of systems and infrastructure/application software. 3. Configures, installs, maintains, applies patches/fixes and troubleshoots physical and logical tiers of applications/software/systems. 4. Assists with conceptualization, design, and set up of systems architecture and its various components 5. Participates in the development and implementation of technical standards, policies and procedures. 6. Works as liaison with contractors and vendors as needed. 7. Serves as a mentor for other technical staff and provides consultation, guidance and support as needed to operational and technical staff. 8. Ensures stable performance through performance monitoring and tuning. 9. Ensures timely system maintenance, participates in the planning and implementation of major software and hardware upgrades 10. Works independently or as a member of interdisciplinary teams on complex projects. 11. Participates in capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction of resource needs. 12. Ensures that change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; equivalent combination of education and work experience is acceptable. At least 5 years of practical experience as a Linux systems engineer in a complex multi-platform, multi-protocol environment. Expert knowledge of Linux (Red Hat Enterprise preferred). Red Hat Certification preferred. Advanced Linux Administrative Skills (LVM, VCS Clusters, Kickstart, Scripting, Puppet or Chef, Active Directory authentication, Samba, building RPMs YUM). Linux System Administration in an Epic/cache environment preferred. Experience with Cisco UCS preferred. SAN/NAS storage (EMC preferred). Expertise in Linux system installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting. Experience migrating Epic from AIX to Linux Expertise with a variety of server/systems monitoring, analysis, management, and configuration tools. Able to solve problems independently, quickly, and completely and communicate them clearly to upper management. Strong project management and interpersonal skills; able to deal effectively with diverse skill sets and personalities, provide strong team leadership, and work effectively as a team player. Highly organized with a proven ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, manage several complex projects at one time, and utilize time effectively for staff and self. Experience with backup client/server software (TSM preferred) Required to have experience with cluster software Healthcare sector experience a plus Advanced scripting skills Cloud computing experience a plus Remote Server builds (PXE preferred) Competent with mainstream office automation, project management, and communications tools. Demonstrated ability to work with PowerPoint and Visio for workflow architectural diagrams. Executes all job responsibilities and assignments promptly, reliably, honestly, and ethically. Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
