With 1M hourly associates hired annually and growing in the next 24 months, WFS is performing an historic and unprecedented task to bring new people to work for Amazon Operations.

WFS Candidate Services Learning and Development is looking for a Sr. Instructional Designer to create world-class training for our Candidate Services teams worldwide. In this position, you will be an architect on a training development team responsible for creating and improving training products.

You will work on projects that utilize your expertise in learning theory, instructional technologies, and human performance technology to enhance the performance of Amazonians.

The solutions you create will enable improved employee experience, shorten lead times to proficiency, and provide performance support at the point of need. This includes developing cutting-edge eLearning training that is scalable globally.

Candidates should have experience working autonomously across multiple global locations, expertise in developing and maintaining strong business relationships, collaborating across different fields of expertise, and implementing Learning project plans. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced environment and develop innovative solutions.

Being successful on this team requires the ability to:

  • Discover and Innovate: partner with business stakeholders to understand program goals and define the learning solution that will make their programs successful
  • Design and Develop: create performance-focused training content that engages our learners, ensuring content is ready for localization and deployment in international locations
  • Design and Develop: create outstanding learning tools, performance support aids, practice tests, online tutorials, and other materials to meet identified needs
  • Design and Develop: create tests, quizzes, and other assessments to ensure learner understanding and performance
  • Deliver Results: manage your projects amidst ambiguity, competing priorities, and challenging deadlines
  • Travel may be required up to 10%

This role may be performed virtually, but periodic travel will be required to Seattle, WA; Nashville, TN; and Tempe, AZ. Physical assignment to one of these offices is preferred.

A work sample demonstrating your experience and skill using course authoring tools and ID theory will be required as part of the hiring process.


-BA or BS degree in a relevant field such as instructional design, educational technology, organizational development, etc.
-Knowledge of instructional design methodologies including but not limited to: ADDIE model, eLearning blueprint, design thinking, and interactive learning experiences.
-3+ years of work experience conducting a training needs analysis to identify the core problem to be solved in order to achieve desired business results.
-2+ years of work experience successfully designing and developing interactive learning solutions for global teams.
-3+ years of work experience authoring effective learning objectives.
-3+ years of work experience developing self-paced eLearning curricula, storyboards, job aids, online tutorials, assessments, and print-based materials.
-3+ years of work experience with eLearning authoring tools, such as Storyline/Rise 360, Captivate, Lectora, or similar.
-2+ years of work experience developing graphics using tools such Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar.
-2+ years of work experience using Learning Management Systems, such as Cornerstone, Thinking Cap, or similar to manage users, publish lessons, enroll learners, and generate reports.
-2+ years of work experience using data and controls to measure the impact of learning interventions.


-Masters' Degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technology, or a related field.
-Experience developing training for contact center employees and familiarity with call center QA & coaching practices
-Extensive experience with authoring tools, such as Storyline/Rise 360, Captivate, Lectora, or similar.
-Experience developing accessible online learning for people with disabilities.
-Advanced Multimedia development in audio, video, and/or animation (e.g. Audition, Premiere, Vyond).
-Deep understanding of visual design principles.
-Intermediate experience in web development (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and/or similar languages) to create web sites, learning portals, and other technical assets.
-Experience with emerging tech trends for content creation (e.g. gamification, virtual reality, augmented reality , and xAPI).
-Industry certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, and content-specific certifications as appropriate (e.g. CPLP, CPT, PMP, etc.).

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $64,300 - $112,500 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
