Thermo Fisher Scientific has an immediate need for a Sr. Financial Analyst to be a key team member of the Global Services FP&A team. This position is based in Carlsbad, CA and will provide direct support to the FP&A Manager and direct business partnering with Americas Service & Support Team.

The Sr. Financial Analyst will be responsible for leading the process of global warranty review, system reconciliation, labor cost analysis to support Global Service organization’s goals and objectives. It is a role that requires a self-starter with strong analytical and problem solving capabilities. Establishing strong partnerships with business leaders in the respective functions is critical. Well-built analysis and clear communication with senior finance leadership is needed.


  • Collaborate with service accounting team to support business partner to understand service transactions.
  • Familiar with SAP to support system reconciliation and ad hoc requests.
  • Develop and own various financial reports including SVOP report, Warranty accrual rate/expense report; labor rate; labor utilization; Power BI reports and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Identify, monitor, and articulate key operating metrics, business risks and opportunities associated with the plan and outlooks to the leadership team.
  • Support division level initiatives, special projects, requests and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
  • Collaborate with IT maintaining and improving Service global data base.
  • Support regional finance team on routine analysis and communication.
  • Leverage TFS system (PLN, GLA, CMR) to drive and support continuous improvement efforts within GSS finance.
  • Partner with Systems Finance team and regional finance teams to maintain data accuracy and when necessary, provide insights and solutions to resolve data integrity issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required. MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred. CPA or accounting experiences a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and managing costs in a matrixed organization.
  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Hyperion is a must. Experience in Enterprise 1 and SAP is preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills required and ability to work and interact with senior level business partners/customers.
  • Experience supporting a business unit a plus.
