Honeywell Aerospace (AERO) products and services are found on virtually every commercial, defense and space aircraft.  We build aircraft engines, cockpit and cabin electronics, wireless connectivity systems, mechanical components and more and connect many of them via our high- speed Wi-Fi offerings.  Our solutions create more fuel-efficient and better maintained aircraft, more direct and on-time flight arrivals, safer skies and airports and more comfortable flights along with several innovations and services that reflect exciting and emerging new transportation methods such as autonomous and supersonic flight.

The AERO Tax Sr. Director is responsible for initiating and implementing tax planning, monitoring industry issues and analyzing legislative proposals to maximize global tax savings opportunities and contribute to shareholder value while fulfilling tax payment and reporting obligations.  The AERO Tax Sr. Director also participates in developing tax controversy strategies and advocating the Company€™s position in tax examinations. Compliance-related activities involve preparing forecasts, evaluating the tax effect and implications of business strategies and proposals, and leading AERO accounting for income taxes, Sarbanes-Oxley, and transfer pricing processes. The AERO Tax Sr. Director is the business tax point of contact and leads a staff of tax professionals.

The AERO Tax Sr. Director is a member of Honeywell€™s Tax Leadership Council. 

Key Responsibilities

Planning €“ Partner with business units to proactively identify and research tax planning opportunities. Implement structural and non-structural tax planning strategies, which maximize savings on a defensible basis. Work with businesses to develop and implement tax efficient transfer pricing policies. Interact with business, tax, and other individuals to ensure proper implementation of all tax planning projects.  Lead negotiations with tax authorities on incentives, including existing EMEA rulings involving other Honeywell Strategic Business Groups that share AERO legal entities.

Financial Reporting €“ Evaluate financial statement treatment and disclosures for taxes. Participate in the Company€™s accounting for income taxes process, particularly deferred tax computations, and Sarbanes-Oxley process. 

Business/Transactional Activities €“ Manage and participate in reviews of ongoing business activities and proposed transactions to properly advise management of tax consequences and opportunities, with emphasis on tax efficiency and compliance with legal requirements. 

Tax Audits and Controversies €“ Support and partner with Company personnel to successfully defend filing positions and to negotiate favorable resolutions of proposed deficiencies. Facilitate activities of outside advisers engaged to assist in tax controversy matters. 

 Compliance €“ Assist in identifying, researching and evaluating alternative tax positions in order to determine a supportable, cost effective filing position. Review the work papers and reporting position in the income tax returns for specific transactions. Assist in obtaining necessary information and documentation for use with tax returns, tax planning, and cash tax forecasts and work with the business to improve tax data collection processes. 

Leadership and Teamwork €“ Provide a single point of contact for AERO tax matters. Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals. Coordinate and consult with the Company€™s tax professionals on matters. 


You Must Have: 
Bachelor's Degree in tax or accounting

8+ years of tax experience within a global organization

Big Four accounting experience

4+ years International tax planning experience

2 + years of mergers and acquisitions

We Value:

Master€™s degree in taxation or JD in Law

Experience working within a matrix/decentralized environment

In-depth technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations
Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing company
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues 
Effective presentation skills

Ability to relocate in the future for career advancement
