Job Summary:

Disney Parks, Experiences and Product (DPEP) is the business segment of The Walt Disney Company that brings stories to life through global product assortments and services featuring characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Media Networks, and the Walt Disney Studios. This includes a broad assortment of merchandise ranging from toys, apparel, accessories, home décor, electronics, consumables, health & beauty and collectible art.
The Merchandise Creative team develops the global creative direction and assets for all of Disney Consumer Products properties. Following the Brand Strategy, this team develops the brand identity that appears at retail, designs and establishes the look and feel of each property, generates and fulfills character art needs, and works in partnership with lines of business and content providers to oversee product development.

The Senior Designer will play an integral part in design and creative development on key business strategies supporting all Franchises in Licensing creative development. This role will manage entire projects from concept through to production.


  • Create on trend designs for Disney, Pixar & Star Wars properties including new IP and Live Action event films from concept to execution.
  • Build and establish relationships with Design, Operations, Character Art, Franchise, Product Development/Licensing and Content Partner teams.
  • Generate and sell creative ideas to internal and external clients.
  • Translate Disney characters and Disney storytelling to product.
  • Clearly present visions/ideas in both formal and informal settings
  • Provide design direction as needed for all design initiatives; i.e. research creative solutions, strong awareness of market trends and color, create trend direction boards.
  • Produce keynote presentations and pitches
  • Manage entire projects from concept to production
  • Work on multiple projects in a fast paced environment
  • Execute designs through to production mechanicals and deliver against timelines
  • Illustrate/create design icons and graphics for product development purposes

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in graphic design with an emphasis on storytelling and character based graphic design.
  • High knowledge and efficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Keynote essential
  • Strong Graphic Design & Illustration skills
  • Strong sense of design, color and composition with ability to illustrate characters in different art styles. Must be flexible in creative approach to projects.
  • Ability to create strong, cohesive storytelling trend/POV boards
  • Able to develop new/fresh/out-of-the-box concepts and translate them into a storyline
  • Able to "flesh out" a storyline through strong graphic, creative direction
  • Must be a hands-on designer, resourceful and proactive
  • Fresh and inventive creative thinker and problem solver
  • Strong negotiator
  • Resourceful, proactive and self-sufficient
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to simultaneously handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and to collaborate as part of a team
  • Must be a hands-on designer, proactive, resourceful and self-motivated.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to present and sell ideas.
  • Both graphic design and illustration skills in addition to a strong fashion sense are essential to this role.
  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat), Keynote and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Fashion experience a plus

Required Education

  • BA with emphasis in graphic design/illustration.
