Job Description

This role is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for their customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, and other sources (i.e. Nielsen or other syndicated consumer data). This position is the talent pool for the Senior Demand Planner position within the Organization.

The Demand Planner is the integration point into the sales and commercial organization. Advanced forecast modeling is the responsibility of this position. This position leads the dialogue each month for their respective customers and products with key counterparts in Sales, Marketing, Finance, Development, and Supply.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Marketing, Product Development, Finance, Supply, Sales, and our International Planning Office to develop, implement and monitor product line forecasts in both units and dollars
  • Keep Master Data and MRP / SAP system parameters accurate and up to date, to ensure the detailed demand component schedules are appropriately driven through MRP and are producing accurate and actionable data for Purchasing to execute against
  • Refine systems and methods to continually improve forecasts so that the company can better anticipate customer needs
  • Develop SKU-level financial and operational forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function. Develop New Product forecasts, End of Life forecasts, and understand the impact of product cannibalization and Life Cycle changes
  • Review historical sales trends, research and interpret demand drivers, understand market forces, prepare forecast data, develop and administer statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results
  • Interact with Sales, Marketing, Development Engineering, and customer finance to understand and interpret demand forecast drivers, to determine their impact on future forecasts
  • Coordinate a collaborative and consensus approach (S&OP) by working with Sales, Marketing, Development, and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts
  • Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool.
  • Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
  • Closely coordinate and communicate Forecasts with supply planning, inventory management, and distribution functions where appropriate
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field
  • 3+ years of related planning experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years demonstrated results in supply chain management or demand planning
  • Strong statistical, analytical and problem-solving ability
  • An entrepreneurial spirit is a must
  • Experience working with detailed product line forecasts and familiarity with the sales and operations planning process (S&OP)
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with low volume, high mix product lines
  • APICS or IBF certification
