Sr. Business Manager

As a Senior Manager, Business Analysis within the Credit Card Loss Forecasting team at Capital One, you will apply your analytical skills to answer complex questions about the performance of our business, of the industry and of the economy.  You will help our executive team understand the credit risk of our portfolio while also ensuring that we have a well-controlled and methodologically rigorous process for estimating losses both for quarterly financial reporting / ALLL and for CCAR.  You will work collaboratively with Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Tech, Marketing & Analytics, and Internal and External Audit in an environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-  Produce segment level and vintage level loss estimates, both for quarterly financial reporting and for CCAR stress testing. 

- Collect and analyze data to identify emerging credit risk trends (delinquency rates, flow rates, loss rate) and to drive insights and forecast updates.  Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the role is requires rigorous analysis & credit risk management.

- Leverage technology and critical thinking skills to continually innovate and automate existing methodologies, processes and reporting.  Design, develop, test, and implement new approaches. 

- Maintain process excellence.  Document methodologies, processes, risks, and mitigating controls.  Assess the level of process risk and recommend any necessary improvements.

- May manage and develop a team of analysts.  Coaching and mentoring associates throughout the organization with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One.

-  Work closely with colleagues and senior leaders in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Tech, Marketing & Analytics and other areas to provide insights that drive business results.

- Lead others. Build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the firm. Should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results in a highly organized and proactive manner.

- Impeccable written and oral communication skills, coupled with strong influencing skills and the ability to drive consensus around complex decisions.

- Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals.

Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree or military experience

At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis

At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis

At least 1 year of experience in people management

At least 1 year of experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree

5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis

5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis

2+ years of experience in people management

2+ years of experience in product development

2+ years of experience in financial modeling

2+ years of experience in economic forecasting

2+ years of experience in project management
