Responsible for EHS duties including aviation safety, contractor safety program, safety audits, incident investigations, making recommendations for improvement as part of the EHS team health and safety (EH&S) program at a large facility with multiple off-site locations.

You will demonstrate success by:

  • Communicates with contacts, typically within own team, Facilities/Project Managers and Contractors, as well as our customers on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring some explanation or interpretation in order to understand and reach agreement.
  • Work consists of less-routine tasks in contribution to changes in systems and processes to solve problems. May be required to apply discretion within identified boundaries and procedures. Responsible for making minor changes in processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of approaches and routines being utilized. Expected to propose solutions to problems for others review and/or follow.
  • Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has impact on the overall achievement of results for the team. Work is of limited scope, typically on mid-sized, somewhat complex projects or task-related activities.
  • Provides direction during investigations of the root cause of any injury, accident, illness or near miss arising in the course of business operations. Ensures appropriate actions are taken to correct unsafe conditions and/or behaviors.
  • Chairs the Aircraft Damage Program and provides ongoing support to facility management in the way of leading damage investigations, representing EH&S in the Bird and Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) committee and developing communication materials for such.
  • Provides or arranges for, required EH&S training in areas of responsibility.
  • Reviews new designs, processes, and projects to identify and eliminate EH&S impacts.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with DCMA 8210 requirements throughout the facility and providing detailed and accurate reports as it pertains to the facility and/or department.
  • Other duties and assignments provided by supervision/management.

      • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Aviation Safety, Aviation Management, Industrial/Occupational Safety or related field, in-depth knowledge of local, state and federal occupational safety regulations, preferably in an aircraft maintenance, modification and repair environment, FAA requirements, DCMA requirements for government contractors.   
      • Four (4) or more years performing such activity. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.)
      • Must be organized with the ability to communicate well with technical and non-technical personnel, both written and verbal.
      • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
      • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
      • Must be flexible and proficient in managing multiple priorities in a fast paced, matrix organization.
      • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. 

        Preferred Additional Skills: 

        • Top Secret Clearance is Desired.
        • Experience Within an Aerospace Maintenance/Manufacturing Environment.
        • Advanced Education and Certification in Root Cause Analysis.
        • Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene practices.
        • Experience Operating/Managing online EHS Management System(s).
        • SAP and Gensuite Experience is a plus.
        • Professional EHS Certifications are a plus.
