The Software Quality Engineer (SQA) is a member of the Parker LORD Electro-Mechanical Systems (EMS) organization. These EMS products and systems utilize embedded software and are developed with software tools that must meet the quality standards and certification guidelines for the aviation industry, often safety critical. The main responsibility of Software Quality Engineer is to perform quality planning, management and auditing activities that keep the EMS organization compliant with Parker LORD, industry and customer, policies and procedures. They work cross-functionally with the software engineering team, customers, suppliers, and regulatory organizations to develop, certify and maintain high quality and compliant EMS products. They perform process and quality assurance audits, generate and monitor department metrics, support the software/system certification process, review technical documentation, and participate in Change Control Boards.

+ Serve as Software Quality Lead on new product introduction teams

+ Understand customer, industry and regulatory quality requirements and analyze for compatibility with LORD products and processes. Resolve differences internally and/or with customer or regulatory agencies.

+ Assure all quality requirements and objectives are understood, communicated, and met throughout the product development lifecycle.

+ Lead/Coordinate internal activities in support of major customer, regulatory, and third-party certification efforts.

+ Prepare and maintain detailed software quality and configuration control plans. Provide direction to affected personnel to assure complete and timely implementation of the plans.

+ Participate in design reviews and risk analysis for new products/materials and technologies. Follow-up to assure resolution of problem areas.

+ Review and assess data/documentation provided by the program teams for compliance with applicable standards and guidelines. Create and maintain records per the appropriate EMS processes

+ Interacts with technical teams, customers, and Delegated Engineering Representatives on software process assurance matters; prepare and present data at Certification audits.

+ Actively engage with the EMS technical team and serve as subject matter resource on SQA topics.

+ Stay current on relevant industry and regulatory quality guidance and ensure organizational compliance, where appropriate.

+ Provide guidance regarding process compliance and resolve QA observations

+ Process Improvement

+ Develop and improve quality systems and processes to assure customer satisfaction.

+ Support Software Configuration Management

+ Support and review configuration identification and control, standards and procedures development, release management, configuration status accounting, configuration auditing.

+ Responsible for oversight of control of the technical configuration of project assets by applying processes for documentation, change control management, reconfiguration, base lining, data management and other relevant processes.

QualificationsREQUIRED

+ Bachelor of Science in software engineering or related technical field (Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Science, etc.) with work experience/ internship in a technical development environment

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint

+ Ability to apply basic quality tools (e.q. fishbone diagrams, flow charts, etc.) and coordinate product dispositioning & corrective action.

+ Ability to effectively communicate plans and technical information at all levels (written and verbal).

+ Experience with safety critical software and industry regulations

+ Ability to review data artifacts to assess compliance to the cited standards, including audits of technical data and technical review checklists to assess correctness and completeness.

+ Ability to create metrics based on observations and recognize trends across data items and projects

+ Accuracy and detail in record keeping

+ Experience with Aerospace industry standard for Software (DO-178B/C)

PREFERRED

+ 2+ years experience in a technical development environment

+ Experience in the Aerospace Industry

+ ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer

+ Experience with Aerospace industry standard for System and Complex Hardware development (DO-254, DO-330, DO-331, DO-333, 730-2002 and ARP-4754)

+ Demonstrated experience working in product development

+ Knowledge of industry, government, and international quality system standards and their application to the aerospace environment.

+ Working knowledge of the SAP Quality module.

+ ISO9001, AS9100 and/or TS16949 experience.

+ Green Belt certification.

+ Working knowledge of GD&T.

+ Working knowledge of RCCA techniques and process
