The Patient Engagement
Engineering Manager will lead a software and hardware development team working
on the current and next generation enterprise Clinician and Patient Care
Management systems for the Medtronic Care Management Services business.
This position will manage an engineering team in their day to day development
activities, provide technical guidance, assign development tasks, assist with
design and review of system functionality architecture and help drive
functional excellence in project execution for the Technology Innovation
organization. The candidate must be self-driven, with strong understanding of
the Software Development Lifecycle process and strong technical and leadership
skills.


**A Day in the Life:**


Lead a team of
software and hardware developers (Employees and Vendor resources) working on
current and next generation enterprise Clinician and Patient Care Management
Systems.


Oversee technical
architecture and design of Android and iOS mobile applications, AWS cloud-based
services and 3rd party Bluetooth device evaluation integration.


Lead a hardware team
tasked with maintaining and developing medical and non-medical devices and
peripherals.


Responsible for
technical project planning including identification of design specifications
based on product requirements, developing execution plans, setting security
expectations, estimating team task schedules, managing technical backlog tasks,
and partnering with team members to determine and communicate functional and/or
resource requirements.


Leverage your
engineering experience to mentor and guide team members into creating
thoughtful and maintainable designs and solutions. Assist the team in solving
critical technical issues and designing scalable, highly available solutions
for mobile and cloud platforms.


Own and manage
execution against an aggressive but achievable project plan, provide
project-related work direction to team members, work with peer project
managers/cross functional program team members to monitor dependencies and
ensure that critical program milestones and deliverables are met.


Communicate project
status and issues to the Director of Engineering, RD and Project
Management Office as appropriate. Proactively manage project quality,
risks, and issues.


Provide project team
members with a clear vision and purpose for the project and create a positive
tone and morale for the team. Motivate team members and build project
team identity and cohesion. Ensure cross-discipline coordination and
communication.


Contribute to the
advancement of the MCMS Technology Innovation organization by driving
ideas for process improvement in the overall design controls and product
development process


Provide input for
setting team members performance and development objectives. Provide feedback
to the functional leaders about performance against project deliverables and
core competencies. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members as
appropriate.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements:**


B.S. in Computer
Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Software Engineering or Software
Development degree program or comparable on the job experience with another
B.S. degree.


At least 5 years of Software Industry experience


Prior experience
managing software development teams


Hands on experience
working with and developing services in AWS


Demonstrated track
record of successfully delivering on projects in a matrix environment


Understanding of the
Software Development Life Cycle


Track record of
delivering high quality results on time and on budget


**Nice to Have** :


7+ Years of experience
leading software development initiatives and projects


Experience working in
regulated environments and delivering new products in compliance with global
regulatory standards


Medical device
industry or related experience


Prior experience
developing Medical Device hardware and/or software


Experience with
native, mobile application development (iOS and Android)


Excellent downward,
lateral, and upward communication skills


Masters in SW/computer
engineering or MBA
