DESCRIPTION
Job summary
AWS is looking for a talented Software Development Engineer who will be part of a team working on a green-field network software project. We are launching an effort this year to completely re-imagine how the AWS network is managed. A key part of this project is building a suite of control plane services from the ground-up, which the network fabric teams will use to scale and manage the networks that they are ultimately responsible for. You will be responsible for holding the code quality high, and will be expected to gather requirements, design, implement, deploy, and support software features. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where delivery of new services and features is very rapid.
As this is a green-field project that is just getting started, many decisions are yet to be made, about not only the software components this role will develop, but also around the overall customer experience. By joining this effort early in the definition phase, you have an opportunity to shape how one of the largest networks on the planet is going to be operated for at least the next decade.
About the team
We empower our engineers to take ownership of their realm and make a difference. They start by gathering requirements, diving deep to choose technologies, designing features and spinning new services, coding and reviewing, deploying software across the globe and maintaining services. In AWS, we are nimble and agile, like being part of a startup, innovating while collaborating with smart group of people around you. We are thrilled about software and we are changing the landscape of networking. We operate on an unimaginable scale. We push the boundaries in robustness, fault-tolerance and smart adaptive algorithms that can react intelligently to real-world events. Software engineers on our team contribute to every phase of the development process and deploy scalable software systems worldwide.
Inclusive Team Culture
Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazons culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 16 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.
Our Leadership Principles are why we are in the position we are in today. We embody them and measure ourselves against them every day. Check them out at https://www.amazon.jobs/en/principles.

We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.
