Job summary
Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) drives the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and the processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move billions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when promised. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well.

The Material Views and Notifications (MVN) team powers intelligent decisions in fulfillment and supply processes by providing purpose-built views of inventory data at a massive scale. This data is used to show Amazon customers whether items are available for purchase, to reduce shipping costs by selecting optimal fulfillment centers to handle customer orders, and to plan the shortest possible paths for Amazon Associates to find specific inventory. Our scalable and extensible services enable Amazon to increase product selection, expand its global fulfillment network, and make operations more efficient through robotic automation.

As an engineer on the team, you will be challenged with building innovative and scalable systems that manage Amazon inventory globally. You will own systems end-to-end, from design through implementation, testing, and deployment. You will be empowered to think big, invent on behalf of our customers, make judgment calls and find elegant solutions to hard problems. The world is changing fast and this is a dynamic role where you will be able to learn as much as you contribute.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

€¢ Development experience using primary Amazon Web Services e.g. Amazon S3 and DynamoDB
€¢ Development experience defining, developing and maintaining REST based interfaces
€¢ Excellent communication skills with peers and non-technical stakeholders
