AWS Snow Family includes a family of secure and rugged devices that customers can use for edge computing and data transfer applications. Customers can use the Snow Family devices to run computing applications in remote and austere edge locations, they can use AWS Snowball Edge and AWS Snowcone as an IoT hub to capture and process sensor data, run image processing or video analytics functions, or run ML inferencing applications. The Snow Family devices can operate independent of AWS for long periods, customers can use AWS Snowball Edge and AWS Snowcone to run their compute applications in disconnected or intermittently connected environments. Customers can use AWS Snowball Edge for petabyte-scale data transfers to AWS using multiple devices and customers can use AWS Snowmobile for data center migrations. Customers can use AWS Snowcone and AWS Snowball Edge to collect, process, and move data to AWS from rugged, remote, and disconnected edge locations.
The Snow Family devices are highly secure, rugged, and can operate in harsh environments such as a factory floor or on a ship. Customers can use AWS Snowcone and AWS Snowball Edge in outdoor locations in freezing cold temperatures, hot desert like climates and they can operate in the rain. Customers use Snow Family of devices on an oil rig or in an autonomous vehicle or on a moving robot, you can attach AWS Snowcone to a drone.
The mission of the team is to build the next generation of Snow edge computing platform to allow customers and partners to deploy and run their applications at thousands of discretely located sites with friction free experiences. We want to enable them to easily build, test, deploy, and manage their applications and solutions at scale on Snow devices in the DDIL(Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent and Limited bandwidth) environments. We are eagerly looking for inventive SDEs to help us complete the journey we have begun. As an experienced developer on the team, you will contribute to all aspects of the software development life-cycle.
Design and Develop Algorithms/Systems: We build algorithms and systems that operate at scale and are high-performant. We design on-device and in the cloud software that helps expand the Snow edge compute and data transfer business.
Measure and Improve: We obsess on identifying new ways to measure the effectiveness of our solutions and ways to improve them. We Identify areas of improvement in our frameworks, tools, processes and strive to make them better. We continually evaluate our success metrics and evolve our reporting systems.
End to end ownership: You will own all-new features from inception through development and release. Our team sets high standards for ourselves but believe work should be fun. You will learn plenty from your future teammates while finding us eager to learn from you as well.

On-Call Responsibility
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week in every six. We dont like being paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our products are exceeding customer expectations. When we are paged, we work together to resolve the issue and ensure that root cause is addressed systemically.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
- Experience with Linux
