Job summary
The Elastic Block Store (EBS) organization is the hard-drive for the Internet, storing exabytes of data for millions of customers, powering some of the biggest websites and services available online. The EBS product allows AWS customers to quickly provision and use scalable storage that meets the needs of their business. We build scalable products that enable our customers businesses to grow. EBS is growing as the amount of data used by businesses that run on AWS continues to increase.
EBS is one component of the larger Block and Object Storage (BOS) organization. BOS provides critical storage infrastructure that services millions of customers with businesses of all sizes. You will find EBS and BOS backing some of the most popular website on the Internet. Within EBS, we are building up a dedicated team to build a new AWS service that will provide AWS customers the next level of storage experience. If the idea of building large scale systems that enable Petabyte scale excites you then this is the right opportunity for you.
As an engineer, you will get the opportunity to architect large-scale distributed systems, improve availability and performance, and innovate to increase hardware resource utilization to improve costs for our customers. The ideal candidate would possess analytical, design, problem solving skills and experience in building & operating large scale systems. You will work closely with a tight, agile team that ships often, iterates quickly and takes pride in the product they deliver.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A background in one or more of the following may be helpful with on-boarding and ramp-up for this position:
- Networking and/or Storage Domain experience
- Enterprise-scale distributed systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
