Job summary
Who Are We
We recently launched IQ, a service that connects customers with experts for help of all kinds. We€™re at the early stages of what promises to be a big business for Amazon and our customers. We're a fully functional, self reliant team. We own our product and technical roadmaps, prioritization, engineering process, launch plan, go to market strategy, and P&L. Our team is made up of inspired product managers, strong technical leaders, and motivated, autonomous software engineers. IQ operates two real-time web applications for buyers and experts. The applications have a rich set of functionality including chat, video conferencing, access management, and more.

The ideal candidate is a creative technologist with both breadth and depth of relevant technologies. This opportunity requires excellent problem-solving and communication skills. At the core of the position is to be able to innovate by defining solutions that can and deliver on customer value.

On-Call Responsibility
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don€™t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don€™t get paged for the same issue twice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • 1+ years of experience in software development

  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues
  • 2+ years of software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for building efficient/scalable tools and web interfaces
  • Understanding of web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST
  • Experience in Amazon Web Services
  • Degree preferably in computer science or a similar technical discipline
  • Genuinely excited about technology, have a strong interest in learning about and playing with the latest technologies and building compelling web applications and UI
  • You should be a self-starter and motivated
