AWS Industry Products (AWS IP) is a new engineering organization chartered to build new AWS products by applying Amazon€™s innovation mechanisms along with AWS digital technologies to real world industry problems. Globally, the power grid is undergoing rapid changes in demand for electricity driven by shifts to low-carbon technologies, such as electric vehicles (EV), behind-the-meter batteries, and renewable generation from solar and wind. Our Energy and Sustainability team is working closely with customers to dynamically optimise power grids, and better integrate cleaner renewable sources of energy that reduce carbon emissions and curb climate change. We€™re building new products and services that combine data from connected-end points, like smart utility meters, with advanced machine learning to help grid operators meet the demands of tomorrow€™s net carbon zero market.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

3+ years of coding experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development in at least one modern object-oriented language such as Java, C++, Python or C#
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis
  • Excellent understanding of resource and design requirements for highly scalable systems
  • Strong sense of ownership, customer obsession, and drive
  • Ability to mentor other software developers and to improve development best practices.
  • Practical experience with key enabling technologies such as serverless, machine learning (ML), data science or analytics pipelines.
  • Clarity in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit interested in experimentation and testing long held industry assumptions
