Job summary
As a Software Developer on the Amazon Photos Fire Devices team, you will solve tough software engineering problems at scale. You€™ll design and implement the ongoing evolution of photos experience on different FireTV and Tablet devices, deliver high quality results and produce exemplary code. You€™ll be a champion of best practices. The features you deliver will be at €œAmazon Scale€ and be loved by users worldwide.

Amazon Photos helps consumers preserve and re-live their memories. The service comes with unlimited photo storage for Prime members and apps are available on iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, Fire Tablet & Fire TV. The service is also integrated into Alexa devices such as Echo Show and Echo Spot. Amazon Photos is the latest digital offering to consumers released on the heels of the Amazon Music and Amazon Video offerings. We have ambitious goals to scale growth and adoption of the service around the world and delight our customers with a great product.


Key job responsibilities

  • Architecting, designing, developing and deploying new features for Amazon Fire Devices, working with multiple back-end teams
  • Contributing best-in-class programming skills to develop highly innovative, consumer-facing websites
  • Writing clean, maintainable code and performing peer code-reviews
  • Working with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility
  • Working in an agile / scrum environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules
  • Helping define and implement standards and promote best practices for the development team
  • Analyzing and optimizing applications to maximize speed and scale, factoring in mobile network latency and bandwidth constraints

About the team
The Photos Fire TV and Tablet Device team is building engaging features that enable users to experience their memories with their families; these features are some of the most used and beloved features in Amazon Photos. We have an exciting roadmap of new features to deliver over the next few years, including features built on AI and other advanced technologies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

  • Bachelor's Degree in CS or relevant

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expert working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object oriented design
  • Expert working knowledge of design patterns
  • Strong working knowledge of operating system fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of REST service patterns and other client/server interaction models
  • Working knowledge of common Internet technologies
  • Relentless customer focus
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
