The Role:
As an SDE in the Alexa Speech team, you will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists, software engineers, and data scientists, who are pushing the frontiers of Alexa's speech recognition capabilities. You will bridge the gap between science and engineering, as you design, implement, and deliver software systems and data pipelines that power Alexa's speech recognition ML models. You will have the freedom (and encouragement) to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers in green-field projects. You will enjoy working in a culture of research and learning, having access to some of the world's best and brightest minds in the field of Natural Language Understanding to learn from.

Responsibilities :

• Design and build scalable infrastructure that enables training, evaluating and deploying machine learning models over vast quantities of data

• Design, build and deploy production software that is part of critical ML data and model release pipelines.
• 
  
• Identify and drive improvements to software efficiency, cost, maintainability, and quality
• 
  
• Mentor less experienced engineers and continuously raise the bar for code quality, through code reviews and leading by example.

• Communicate effectively through well-written documents and verbally.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 1+ years of experience in software development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate degree in CS, Statistics, Maths or related fields
• Familiarity with large-scale ML infrastructure and data pipelines
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and undefined problems
• Strong sense of ownership, customer obsession, and drive
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.
• Experience taking a lead role in architecting, designing, and building complex software systems
• Prior domain knowledge in natural language understanding / automatic speech recognition
