Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Configuration Management Specialist to support the development and deployment of submarine training systems for the U. S. Navy at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Advanced Readiness Solutions Operating Unit.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Implement DevOps and SysOps practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Implement and support a continuous integration and continuous deployment model to streamline development, deployment and testing of multiple software baselines. Work with system and software engineers to deploy operating systems and software builds, along with supporting the development infrastructure of required tools.

+ Manage and maintain the software configuration management environment
+ Develop automated build and deployment tools
+ Build and maintain tools and solutions associated with deployment and infrastructure platforms
+ Actively troubleshoot issues that arise during testing and production, identifying and solving potential issues before launch
+ Develop automated test tools to verify build and deployment mechanisms
+ Provide innovative solutions to support migrating legacy Waterfall development practices to a more Agile Continuous Integration and Deployment Model
+ Develop automation scripts to support automated build and deployment efforts using standard scripting languages, e.g. bash
+ Establish DevOps engineering best practices
+ Manage code deployments, fixes, updates and associated processes
+ Work with multiple source control applications for software development, system deployment and automation and infrastructure tools
+ Provide technical support to software developers when needed to provide solutions for implementation and integration


**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field with 3years experience or High School Diploma / Equivalent with 7 years recent experience may be accepted in Lieu of degree.
+ 3+ years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role (or similar role)
+ Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense security clearance at the Secret level (US citizenship is required to obtain a clearance)
+ Experience with configuration management and source control tools, such as Git/Jira
+ Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Bash, Python and Ruby
+ Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, identifying issues early in the development process
+ Demonstrated understanding of software engineering and development practices supporting primarily C++ application development

**Preferred Qualifications:**

Experience in software development and/or infrastructure development

Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services

Experience with Clearcase/Clearquest software configuration management tools

Experience with virtualization architectures, particularly RedHat KVM, VMWare ESXi/vSphere

Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 1 certification to support DoD Cybersecurity Workforce, to include A+, CCNA, Network+, Linux+ certifications

DevOps experience supporting software development and deployment

Experience supporting development environments in the Defense industry

Experience performing troubleshooting in mission-critical infrastructures

Knowledge of Defense industry practices and standards

Active US Department of Defense security clearance at the Secret level

+ Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures and Linux/Unix administration (RHEL6/CentOS6, RHEL7/CentOS7)
+ Experience with CMake to support the building software packages and establishing dependencies
+ Experience with kickstart, Puppet, Chef and/or Ansible for automation and configuration
+ Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices to identify best implementation approaches
